The attack on Israel by Hamas on October 7 has further divided the country because Palestinian sympathizers are upset with Israel’s reaction to the attack.

Democratic members of the progressive Squad have been the most vocal critics of Israel and they have taken to calling the fact that Israel is simply defending itself a genocide.

On Friday, Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan posted a video on X, formerly Twitter, demanding President Biden support a cease-fire to stop “the genocide of the Palestinian people” or face electoral consequences in 2024.

Tlaib’s post on X condemned Biden’s declaration that the U.S. stands with Israel and opposes a cease-fire, telling him, “The majority of the American people are not with you on this one. #CeasefireNow.”

From Fox News:

The post also included a video of scenes from Gaza and protests in the U.S., interspersed with clips from Biden, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The scenes included protest chants from Ohio saying, “No peace on stolen land!” Illinois “Free! Free! Palestine!” and Michigan “From the river to the sea.”

A multitude of X users found Tlaib’s post “disturbing.” Many accused the U.S. lawmaker of antisemitism, others disputed her claim that most American’s don’t want to back Biden’s support for Israel, and some demanded she resign.

The Spectator contributing editor Stephen Miller shared a screenshot of the video’s “From the river to the sea!” shot and asked, “Hi congresswoman, hey kind of a newb to all of this. What does this mean exactly? Thanks for any clarity you can provide.”

Former counterterrorism expert Nathan Sales told Fox News that the Palestinian chant represents a call for the “extermination of the Jewish state.”

Digital strategist Greg Price also commented on the inclusion of “From the river to the sea.”

The good news is we likely won’t have to hear from Tlaib and other members of the Squad for much longer.

According to the Washington Examiner, a super PAC largely funded by billionaire LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman may be close to backing a primary opponent to Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Cori Bush.

Per the Washington Examiner:

“I have been asking them [Mainstream Democrats PAC] if there is any possibility of ousting the most extreme members of Congress, and I have been asking about Cori Bush and Rashida Tlaib,” Mehlhorn said.

Mehlhorn said Tlaib’s and Bush’s reactions to the Hamas terrorist attack against Israel may be a reason for the super PAC to get involved. Tlaib and Bush have condemned Israel and called for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Mehlhorn is “hopeful” the super PAC will support primary challengers for both Squad members.
