House Democrats proposed legislation Friday that would impose a 1,000% excise tax on “assault weapons” and high-capacity magazines, Fox News reports.

The bill would “raise the price of a $500 weapon to $5,000 in a bid to reduce access to guns across the country,” the outlet noted.

Authoritative Democrats, who don’t want you to have the means to defend yourself or your property, know they can’t erase the 2nd Amendment.

Instead, they’ll tax guns and ammo into oblivion so most Americans can’t afford it.

This isn’t the first time House Democrats have proposed the ridiculous legislation.

Fortunately, it went nowhere last year.

Fox News reports:

The text of Beyer’s new bill was not out as of the weekend, and it was unclear if any changes were made from his 2022 version. His bill from last year imposed the tax on any magazine or related device that can accept more than 10 rounds of ammunition.

The same 1,000% tax would be imposed on any “semiautomatic assault weapon,” which last year’s bill defined as a semiautomatic rifle or pistol with a fixed magazine of 10 rounds or more or that have other various features.

Under that rule, a weapon that normally costs $2,000 would force customers to pay more than $20,000, a change Beyer argued last year could help “curb the epidemic of gun violence.”

“Congress must take action to stem the flood of weapons of war into American communities, which have taken a terrible toll in Uvalde, Buffalo, Tulsa and too many other places,” Beyer said then. “Again and again assault weapons designed for use on the battlefield have been used in mass shootings at schools, grocery stores, hospitals, churches, synagogues, malls, theaters, bars and so on.”

According to reports, the Biden administration is considering its own attack on 2nd Amendment rights.

A piece from The New York Times reports the Biden regime may issue a new rule relating to the “Bipartisan Safer Communities Act” signed into law in 2022.

Our friends at The Gateway Pundit explained:

The provision would force anyone who makes money selling guns to get a federal license and conduct background checks. The current regulatory landscape requires only federally licensed dealers to conduct background checks and defines a dealer as someone who makes his livelihood selling firearms.

President Joe Biden in March issued an executive order to put the new provision in the fast lane.

The Times reported that the Justice Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are working on the new rule, with an expected completion date in the latter part of 2024.

The Times said the new provision “could set a threshold number of transactions that would define a dealer; gun-control groups hope to see it at five sales a year or lower. The rules will be backed up by a renewed push to prosecute businesses that refuse to register, by accessing bank records, storage unit leases and other expenses associated with running an off-the-books gun business.”
