Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced his candidacy for President on Wednesday evening.
He was only the second Presidential candidate and the first major Presidential candidate to announce his candidacy on Twitter Spaces after Democrat Robert F. Kennedy Jr. did the same just weeks earlier.
While the idea was ambitious, many people said it ended in a ‘DeSaster’ after a 30-minute delay due to the Space continually crashing and an uninspiring announcement and interview after it finally started working.
Both former President Donald Trump and President Biden took an opportunity to mock DeSantis in the aftermath of his announcement.
Biden posted a link to ActBlue, saying ‘This link works’ while DeSantis, Elon Musk, and David Sacks were still attempting to sort out technical difficulties.

Trump joked that his ‘big red button’ works better than DeSantis in a Truth Social post.
TRUMP TO DESANTIS: “Rob,” My Red Button is bigger, better, stronger, and is working (TRUTH!), yours does not! (per my conversation with Kim Jung Un, of North Korea, soon to become my friend!). pic.twitter.com/MR4UANqbTg

Shortly after, he posted a video contrasting his announcement speech at Mar-a-Lago with DeSantis’ glitch riddled announcement, switching between shots of him waving to supporters to ‘God Bless the USA’ with minutes of feedback audio from Elon Musk’s Twitter Space where DeSantis was being hosted.

Prominent Trump Supporter Raheem Kassam said that DeSantis’ Twitter Space announcement was a ‘failure to launch’ even after he began speaking.
“You can’t look short and awkward on Twitter Spaces. Except somehow, DeSantis still managed.” He said on Twitter.

Democrats and Republicans alike bashed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) after he launched his presidential campaign through a Twitter Spaces session that experienced several technical glitches and even a lengthy period of a complete audio loss Wednesday afternoon—despite Twitter CEO Elon Musk heavily hyping the Twitter announcement as a historic event for the platform.
President Joe Biden took a dig at DeSantis’ initial Twitter Space that failed, tweeting “This link works,” alongside a link to a donation page for his reelection campaign.
Former President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform to bash DeSantis’ technical issues, sharing a video alternating between clips of the Twitter Space’s feedback glitches and footage from his own campaign announcement.
