Here’s what Long Beach Local News reported:
On Saturday night of May 4th, 2024, a shooting was reported at the 2600 block of South Street, near the intersection of South and Paramount. Authorities from the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) and Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) rushed to the scene following reports of a shooting.
Initial reports indicated that one victim sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body. LBPD immediately administered life-saving measures and secured the crime scene, although details about the suspect were scarce. The victim remained conscious and was breathing when emergency responders arrived.
However, the situation quickly escalated as further updates revealed additional victims. Just three minutes after the initial report, LBPD disclosed a second victim who was unconscious and not breathing. Updates at 11:20 pm confirmed yet another victim with a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Emergency medical services sprang into action, with Rescue 12 swiftly transporting the first victim to a local hospital. The severity of the incident prompted LBFD to declare it a level-one mass casualty event by 11:38 pm. Rescue units were mobilized to transport the injured to medical facilities, with Rescue 11 and Rescue 9 transporting the second and third victims.
