Not long after the horrific Parkland, Florida school shooting, many businesses across America — all of which seem to be operating under the control of liberals — decided to sever any ties with the National Rifle Association and to stop selling guns or raise the age limit needed to purchase weapons at their establishment.

Chief among these was Dick’s Sporting Goods, who sought to appease all the angry leftists by raising the age to purchase firearms to 21 and banned “assault-style weapons” from being sold in Field & Stream stores.

Well, that decision is not at all going the way they wanted it to, as sales are taking a steep dive down.

National Review Online is reporting:

After the Parkland school shooting last month that killed 17, Dick’s executives were aghast to learn that the young gunman had bought one of his many guns from them, though not the one he used in the shooting.

The athletic gear company instituted a similar ban after the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting but rescinded it a few months later and returned to selling assault weapons. This time the ban is permanent, Dick’s says.

“Thoughts and prayers are not enough,” the company said in a statement. “We support and respect the Second Amendment, and we recognize and appreciate that the vast majority of gun owners in this country are responsible, law-abiding citizens. But we have to help solve the problem that’s in front of us.”

The company’s shares fell 7.3 percent after going up 13 percent this year. Sales failed to hit the projected $2.74 billion, tapering off at $2.66 billion for this quarter.

Dick’s still plans to open 19 new stores this year and hopes it will boost their brand.

It seems progressives still aren’t getting the message. The vast majority of Americans — who happen to be “middle of the road” when it comes to politics — aren’t foolish enough to believe that limiting their Second Amendment rights are going to usher in some sort of low crime Utopia.

People are well aware that banning guns will only make them more likely to be a victim of violence and won’t stop psychopaths and degenerates from taking innocent lives. These folks, the average, marginalized, underrepresented middle class, will not part with their only means of protecting their families.

Nor should they have to. If only the government and lefties everywhere would get the point.
