Senate Minority Whip John Thune (R-SD), the No. 2 Republican in the U.S. Senate, has endorsed Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
The Washington Examiner confirmed from Thune’s office that he endorsed Trump for president.
Trump has secured endorsements from nearly the entire Senate GOP leadership, with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) being the final two.

The Washington Examiner reports:
“The primary results in South Carolina make clear that Donald Trump will be the Republican nominee for president in this year’s pivotal presidential election. The choice before the American people is crystal clear: It’s Donald Trump or Joe Biden,” Thune said in a statement.
“I support former President Trump’s campaign to win the presidency, and I intend to do everything I can to see that he has a Republican majority in the Senate working with him to restore American strength at home and abroad,” the statement continued.
Thune also said that the “disastrous Biden-Schumer agenda” must be put to an end and said the country cannot handle “another four years of Bidenomics,” along with problems at the southern border and on the world stage.

From The Hill:
Last month, Thune said he would support whoever became the ultimate GOP nominee, adding that Trump seems to be on a strong path toward victory in upcoming primaries.
“I’m interested in what the people are saying, and voters are breaking heavily in his favor. He’s in a commanding position, and I’ve said all along I’ll support the nominee,” Thune said last month. “If he’s the nominee, I’ll do what I can to help the team win the presidency and the Senate and put an end to the Biden/Schumer agenda.”
In recent weeks, Republican senators have faced growing pressure to endorse the party front-runner.
Two other possible McConnell successors have endorsed Trump: Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), who backed Trump early, and Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), who announced his endorsement after Trump won the New Hampshire primary.
