Elon Musk expressed three primary concerns if Democrats take control of the House of Representatives, Senate, and presidency in the 2028 elections.

He is concerned Democrats will:

1. Make DC and Puerto Rico states to gain a strong majority in the Senate.

2. Open the borders and legalize everyone living in America illegally to cement a permanent majority.

3. Increase the size of the Supreme Court to gain an immediate majority.

“This would result in America becoming a permanent one-party state and the end of democracy in any meaningful sense of the word,” Musk said.

“All that is needed to ensure this doesn’t happen is 51 Republican senators in 2029. That is why you should vote for Republican senators this election. Other reasons are irrelevant compared to this one,” he added.

More from The Economic Times:

His remarks came as he emerged as the largest individual political donor in US history, having spent more than $442 million on Republican campaigns and political groups ahead of the midterm elections.

The Hill reported that Musk contributed an additional $76.8 million to his America PAC over the past month. The contribution took his total spending on the upcoming elections beyond $442 million. America PAC received the funds over about a week in October.

Musk had already spent $366 million supporting Republican candidates and groups. He established America PAC during the 2024 election cycle.

According to campaign finance filings cited by CBS News, Musk donated $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund through two contributions in September. The super PAC supports Republican Senate candidates and later transferred the money to a Texas-based political action committee backing Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton.

Musk donated $75 million on September 9 and another $83 million about two weeks later. The contributions accounted for more than half of the Senate Leadership Fund’s receipts in the third quarter, CBS News reported.

He also donated $10 million to the pro-Paxton Lone Star Liberty PAC through his trust. In addition, Musk gave $20 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund, $10 million to the Republican Governors Association and $2 million to the Republican Attorneys General Association.

“It would be game over for America,” Musk added.

“What’s coming was avoidable, but Republicans in Congress let Trump start a war, increase spending, arm a genocide, betray MAHA, and cover up for Epstein’s coconspirators. I was ousted with over $30 million of foreign lobby money for refusing to go along, and here we are,” Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) commented.

“Democrats have already told us their agenda. The only way to prevent this nightmare from becoming reality is to get out and Vote Republican,” America PAC stated.

CNBC shared further:

For Musk, Republican victories could help preserve his influence and a favorable political environment for his companies. Democratic control of either chamber could instead bring subpoenas and investigations into his businesses, federal contracts and his work leading President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency.

Democrats are favored to win control of the House, while the battle for the Senate remains a toss-up.

“With all that spending, [Musk] wants favors in Congress and from the administration and influence on regulatory contracts as well as being shielded from oversight,” said Bruce Freed, president and co-founder of the nonpartisan Center for Political Accountability and a former chief investigator for the Senate banking committee.

Musk did not respond to CNBC’s request for a comment on this story. However, he lashed out at the possibility of Democrat-led investigations in a Wednesday post on X, which he owns, saying: “Live by the sword, die by the sword.”

“Those who pick fights with me should understand that I will find out who is really pulling the strings and come for them, not just their puppets,” he wrote.
