Emily Compagno’s final signoff from “Outnumbered” was emotional, but the story behind her next move may be even more personal.

Before saying goodbye to the noon-hour show, Compagno revealed how she reacted when she learned Fox News was giving her a permanent seat on “The Five.”

Her answer was immediate: “I burst into tears.”

Kennedy Saves the World devoted a September 2 episode to Compagno’s promotion and the emotions surrounding it. For Compagno, the move carries enormous weight. It places her at the table of the most-watched program in cable news, alongside Greg Gutfeld, Dana Perino and Jesse Watters.

That made Friday’s farewell feel less like a departure from Fox and more like the closing of one chapter before a much bigger one begins.

“Outnumbered” marked the moment with a video tribute to nearly six years of laughter, analysis and memorable moments on the couch:

During her signoff, Compagno thanked viewers for trusting her to help deliver and analyze the news each day. She also praised executive producer Trina Thompson, the stage crew and the entire team responsible for keeping the program on the air.

Then she pointed viewers toward her new television home with five simple words: “From now on, see you at 5:00.”

Fox News Media says Compagno officially joins “The Five” on Tuesday, September 8. Jessica Tarlov and Harold Ford Jr. will continue rotating in the program’s liberal seat, while Compagno joins Gutfeld, Perino and Watters as a permanent co-host.

The network described the promotion as a natural next step for a host whose energy and versatility have stood out across Fox News. Compagno joined the network as a contributor in 2018 and became a permanent “Outnumbered” co-host in January 2021.

The assignment comes with a massive audience. Fox reported that “The Five” averaged 3.6 million viewers during the second quarter of 2026, including 322,000 viewers in the key 25-to-54 demographic.

The program has now finished 19 consecutive quarters as cable news’ highest-rated show.

The move also creates a real opening at “Outnumbered.” Fox says a rotation of network personalities will fill Compagno’s seat until a permanent replacement is selected.
