President Trump just pulled off something no one expected — and that’s besides the deal he made to keep US Steel an American company.
First, he found a way to avoid a Japanese buyout of the largest American steel producer, but still allowed foreign investment in to the company.
I think they call that “having your cake and eating it, too”?
That’s not supposed to be possible. Isn’t that the point of that saying?
But somehow, as he always does, Trump eventually found a way and pulled off an unexpected win for both sides!
He unveiled his deal to a stadium full of steel workers and their families at a mill just outside Pittsburgh, PA.
But that wasn’t all. President Trump had a huge surprise somehow worked in to the deal. And he waited for just the right timing to spring the surprise when he already had the crowd worked up.
For a moment I forgot I was watching a Trump event; it started to seem more like an episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show!
Here’s a clip of that moment:
President Trump just announced a $5,000 bonus for all United States steel workers and the stadium ERUPTED:
“There will be no layoffs and no outsourcing whatsoever, and every U.S. steel worker will soon receive a well-deserved $5,000 bonus.”

Just imagine you’re in that crowd, and you’ve spent the last couple of years worried that you’re entire livelihood might evaporate — or get so scaled back by foreign influence that you might as well find another job.
But that’s been your job all your life, and your dad’s job, and your grandfather before him.
That isn’t a hypothetical. That’s exactly what has been going on lately, with no practical help from the Biden Administration.
And then, not only are you told not to worry; your livelihood and the legacy of your family’s heritage is safe…
But oh, by the way — a $5k bonus check is coming your way soon.
That’s BETTER than a “free” car from Oprah! (There was a $6-$7k tax bill attached to those “free” cars that Oprah gave away 20 years ago, and most of the people had to sell the cars just to afford the taxes!)
And that’s exactly what it was like today for a lot of steel workers; except there’s no hidden taxes, no gimmicks and no half-baked ideas in this deal.
Check out this CBS News clip shared by Charlie Kirk today, detailing families that just lived through those worrisome scenarios — until President Trump brought today’s good news:
Western PA steel workers are ecstatic after President Trump delivers a massive deal between U.S. Steel and Nippon Steel saving 11,000 jobs:
“I can take a breath today.”
“It’s like early Christmas around here.”

Here’s the full screen version of that video. Trust me, don’t skip this one.

I actually have a grandad who was a steelworker in Dallas after his time in the Navy.
He worked for Ryerson Steel from the 1950’s until his retirement 45 years later, and I know first hand the kind of men it takes to do those jobs.
Grown men don’t usually cry easy, like that one fella admitted in that video. Except when their family legacy, and the welfare of their family is at stake.
Or, as happened today, those things become less of a burden and more of a source of pride — the good kind, after giving your all for your family, and then resting in the knowledge that it was enough, after all.
President Trump invoked the spirit of his “Make America Great Again” slogan during his speech at the mill, equating it to the quality of American steel and the generations who have made it, as covered by Fox News:
President Donald Trump on Friday touted the steel deal that will allow Nippon Steel to invest in U.S. Steel without an outright acquisition of the company during a rally with steelworkers in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania.
Speaking Friday at the Mon Valley Works Irvin Plant outside Pittsburgh, Trump assured workers that “there will be no layoffs and no outsourcing whatsoever,” and announced that he will double tariffs on foreign steel to 50% while “every U.S. steelworker will soon receive a well-deserved $5,000 bonus.”
He further praised the gathered steelworkers saying, “You’ve gone through a lot.”
Reflecting on the company’s past struggles and the role of tariffs under his previous administration, Trump said, “All the steel companies were going south. They were all in trouble. [U.S. Steel CEO Dave Burritt] said, ‘If you could get tariffs, sir, and save this company’… We put 25% tariffs on your company. So we had protection… and we saved it.”
He added, “For generations, the name United States Steel was synonymous with greatness. And now it will again be synonymous with greatness… The best and strongest steel on earth will forever be made in America and made in Pennsylvania.”
The President also received a big cheer from the crowd when he unveiled his new tariff numbers on imported non-American-made steel:

US Steelworkers went WILD when he revealed the news
Tariffs will now be 50% on imported steel. THAT’S America First!

The original deal offered by Japan’s Nippon Steel was rejected time and time again by President Trump, he revealed during his speech.
The new deal will allow partial ownership by the Japanese company, but presumably without taking a majority stake in the company.
The upside of that deal, besides allowing US Steel to remain US-based, will be an incredible surge of capital investment in to the struggling industry, according to NewsNation:
Trump spoke in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, following a “blockbuster deal” allowing Japan-based company Nippon Steel to invest in U.S. Steel, a Pittsburgh-based company.
The president said it would bring in “billions and billions of dollars” in steel equipment to the United States.
“Our steel and aluminum industries are coming back like never before. This will be yet another BIG jolt of great news for our wonderful steel and aluminum workers. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Though Trump initially vowed to block the Japanese steelmaker’s bid to buy Pittsburgh-based U.S. Steel, he changed course and announced an agreement last week for what he described as “partial ownership” by Nippon.
“U.S. steel will continue to be controlled by the U.S.A. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have done the deal, I wouldn’t have done it,” Trump said.
Trump commended Japan for its positive working relationship with his administration across both terms.
The president told the crowd, “Tariff” is now his fourth favorite word in the dictionary behind God, Wife, and family.
President Trump’s tactical use of tariffs, his skill at negotiating complicated deals, and his sheer determination is what ultimately will keep the very mill he spoke in today from looking like this:
This used to be the biggest steel mill in the world — and it’s 5 minutes from where I grew up. Bethlehem Steel gave my family its start in America. When it closed, 30,000 jobs evaporated overnight.

Here’s the full text to go along with that post:

President Trump & all those involved in keeping US Steel open & in Pittsburgh deserve the highest praise. Keeping that American institution alive will keep an entire community alive with it. Today is a happy day.
I have never been jealous of steel workers; I have more carpenter and woodworker in my blood.
But family heritage, legacy, and providing for your family — those are things I ‘get’.
Today was more than just a political win for the families of American steel workers. It was the safeguarding of those things that weigh heaviest on the shoulders of entire communities all over the nation.
Sometimes, it’s easy to boil a political story down to a headline, and the needle moving one way or another for one side or the other.
But sometimes, these stories hit you somewhere that isn’t easy to boil down at all.
For me, this is one of those stories. And I’ll go to bed this night thinking of how many husbands and fathers will rest easier tonight knowing that everything they’ve worked so hard for is secure.
Another win for President Trump, but a far more meaningful win for those American workers and their families.
This sort of winning absolutely rocks. Keep it coming!
