President Trump’s announcement of universal tariffs on the whole world, including the European Union, is a major blow to the world economy. I deeply regret this choice.

Let’s be clear-eyed about the immense consequences. The global economy will massively suffer. Uncertainty will spiral and trigger the rise of further protectionism.

The consequences will be dire for millions of people around the globe, also for the most vulnerable countries which are now subject to some of the highest U.S. tariffs — the opposite of what we wanted to achieve.

The tariffs will also hurt consumers around the world. It will be felt immediately. The costs of doing business with the United States will drastically increase.

And what is more, there seems to be no order in the disorder.

At the same time, we are prepared to respond. We are already finalizing the first package of countermeasures in response to tariffs on steel.

And we’re now preparing for further countermeasures to protect our interests.

I know that many of you feel let down by our oldest ally.

U.S. promoting every country to renegotiate their bilateral ties, during which time the U.S. could offer to reduce tariffs in exchange for certain concessions.

That’s political. It’s cultural.

And finally, to reshape the emerging world order, to which end the U.S. has to speed up the end of the present one by shaking the global economy to its core.

Exactly. Now — what does Ursula von der Leyen, the unelected head of the EU Commission dictatorship — that’s arresting her political opposition, canceling elections — I mean this is Hitler 2.0, but she’s wearing a pink outfit like Bill Gates likes to wear pink sweaters.

So it’s not threatening and it’s OK.

So here it is. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen just admitted that President Trump’s tariffs have delivered a major blow to the global economy.

She warned that the consequences will be severe as the economic plans have now unraveled.

She conceded that what Trump did was the exact opposite of the goals — and that there is now no more order.

Now, all over Europe, they’ve cut off the energy. Destroying the fertilizer production under orders. Orders to get rid of 80 percent of the cows in the Netherlands by 2030.

They already got rid of 30 percent. Ireland — they’ve come in. They’re making them stop producing crops. The UK — they did Sri Lanka ten years ago. Totally collapsed.

I mean, you saw John Kerry last year in speeches — “We’ve got to cut food production or people will starve.” That’s an actual quote.

You’ve got to slit your carotid arteries or you’ll bleed to death. You’ve got to pour gasoline on yourself and light it or you might burn.

So, the EU went along with the U.S. blowing up the Nord Stream pipeline that supplied 44 percent of their natural gas.

Then their prices more than doubled. The average German couldn’t even pay for heat — and it’s cold there, like Minnesota. So a bunch of people froze to death.

So when you hear, “Oh, they’re going to hurt our people” — the same deindustrialization you see in America has been done in Europe.

But that was with China. Europe has massive tariffs on us, as you know. And we don’t have jack squat on them.

French President Emmanuel Macron met with representatives from key commercial sectors affected by the tariffs, like wines and spirits, cosmetics and aircraft, after urging businesses to suspend all investments in the U.S. “What would be the message of having major European players investing billions of euros in the American economy at a time when they’re hitting us?” Macron asked.

U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of a new 20% tariff on the European Union drew a sharp rebuke from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. She said it was a major blow to the world economy and the consequences “will be dire for millions of people.”

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen denounced Trump’s levies as a “major blow to the world economy” but held off announcing new countermeasures. She said the commission — which handles trade issues for the 27 EU member countries — was “always ready” to talk.

Analysts say there’s little to be gained from an all-out trade war, since higher tariffs can restrain growth and raise inflation.

“Europe will have to respond, but the paradox is that the EU would be better off doing nothing,” said Matteo Villa, a senior analyst at Italy’s Institute for International Political Studies.

“Trump seems to understand only the language of force, and this indicates the need for a strong and immediate response,” Villa said. “The hope, in Brussels, is that the response will be strong enough to induce Trump to negotiate and, soon, to backtrack.”
