Two years ago, when asked what she wished she was better at, Lily Allen offered a concise reply. “Press. Shutting up. Self-censorship,” she told me, nonetheless proceeding to say many entertaining things that could have got her into trouble. The singer seems constitutionally incapable of taking the easy route.

Allen posted a video about her visit to the Calais refugee camp in October 2016, in which she told a 13-year-old Afghan: “I apologize on behalf of my country. I’m sorry for what we have put you through.” The social media backlash was fierce and predictable, as was the response from rightwing tabloids. The Daily Mail’s Jan Moir dismissed Allen’s tears in the video as “patronizing and self-indulgent”, although some might prefer to interpret her distress as something called empathy. Allen stood her ground.

The argumentative pop singer infuriated a lot of people on Twitter when she claimed that Muslim grooming gang victims in the UK could have been “raped or abused by somebody else at some point” if the Muslim gangs didn’t rape them.

While discussing the serious issue of Muslim rape gangs in the UK, Lily Allen claimed that the type of rapist who attacks their stepdaughter is “100 percent British white male.”

Recent research by counter-extremism think tank Quilliam found that 84 percent of grooming gang members are of ‘Asian’ origin, with founder Maajid Nawaz characterizing them as “British South-Asian Muslim men”.

When a Twitter user asked Allen if “those children would have been raped if we hadn’t let those people [Muslim refugees] come here?”, she sarcastically suggesting that perhaps we should stop immigration because some brown men raped some white girls in Rochdale.

Allen then made the most outrageous and ignorant statement of all: “Actually, there’s a strong possibility they would have been raped or abused by somebody else at some point. That’s kind of the issue.”

Allen then doubled down on ignorant with this tweet, suggesting that all white British males “have sex with their stepdaughters twice a week for years at a time. The neighbors, uncles, gardeners, priests, fast food restaurant managers that do it over and over again.”

In the end, Allen made it clear that she stands by her comment.

Well, at least this Twitter feed removes all doubt about what kind of people would willingly defend foreign invaders who rape their neighbors and fellow citizens…
