The Trump DOJ has hit another snag when it comes to unsealing some of the Epstein files.
A federal judge has ruled that he will not unseal grand jury transcripts from the investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The Clinton-appointed Judge noted in his ruling that the information in the Epstein grand jury transcripts is very minuscule compared to what the Trump administration is currently holding.
CNN was the first to report on the Judge’s ruling:
A federal judge said he would not unseal grand jury transcripts and exhibits from the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein – rejecting the Justice Department’s request to make them public.
ADVERTISEMENTJudge Richard Berman said the Justice Department did not overcome long-standing precedent to keep grand jury materials sealed and noted that the information contained in the sealed materials is small relative to the entire investigation file already in DOJ’s hands.
“The information contained in the Epstein grand jury transcripts pales in comparison to the Epstein investigation information and materials in the hand of the Department of Justice,” the judge wrote.
The Justice Department declined to comment on Berman’s ruling. This is the third federal judge to decline to release Epstein-related transcripts and evidence from a grand jury.

NBC News covered the report more closely:
This is a Guest Post from our friends over at WLTReport. View the original article here.A federal judge in New York on Wednesday denied the Justice Department’s request to unseal grand jury transcripts and exhibits in the Jeffrey Epstein case.
U.S. District Judge Richard Berman found the government had not reached the high bar necessary to unseal the transcripts – and suggested there was not much there anyway.“A significant and compelling reason to reject the Government’s position in this litigation is that the Government has already undertaken a comprehensive investigation into the Epstein case and, not surprisingly, has assembled a ‘trove’ of Epstein documents, interviews and exhibits,” Berman wrote.
“The government’s 100,000 pages of Epstein files and materials dwarf the 70 odd pages of Epstein grand jury materials,” the ruling said, adding the government’s motion “appears to be a ‘diversion’ from the breadth and scope of the Epstein files in the Government’s possession.”
Two other judges have also denied the Justice Department’s bid to unseal grand jury records — one is related to the case in Florida, and the other to the case involving Epstein’s accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell.
Two other judges have also denied the Justice Department’s bid to unseal grand jury records – one involving an earlier case in Florida and the other in the case involving Epstein’s accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell.
The House Oversight Committee has subpoenaed the DOJ for the investigative file, and the department has said it will begin turning documents over to the committee on Friday.ADVERTISEMENT
