The House Oversight Committee announced it will hold its first Joe Biden impeachment inquiry hearing on Thursday, September 28th.

“We’re going to have three credible witnesses,” Oversight Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) told ABC News.

“We want to be able to explain what exactly an impeachment inquiry is, and what the purpose is,” he added.

“The hearing will focus on constitutional and legal questions surrounding the president’s involvement in corruption and abuse of public office,” a committee spokesperson told Breitbart.

From Breitbart:

In addition to the hearing, the spokesperson told Breitbart News the committee intends to subpoena Hunter Biden and James Biden’s bank records as early as this week.

Hunter Biden denied the committee’s request in February for bank documents and communications, alleging the demands lacked a “legitimate legislative and oversight basis.”

The committee openly threatened to subpoena the Bidens since it launched its investigation in November 2022. It did not issue subpoenas sooner because the committee insisted on practicing restraint to “show good faith.”

The good faith period apparently ended when House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) opened an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden, giving House investigators more legal tools to compel the Bidens to comply with the investigation.

Last week, McCarthy finally gave the go-ahead to launch an impeachment inquiry against Joe Biden.

He reportedly told House Republicans beginning an impeachment inquiry is “the logical next step” in its investigation.

More from ABC News:

Asked why the committees have not yet subpoenaed the president’s records, Comer said it’s because investigators have not uncovered evidence that he received any of the scrutinized funds.

“We’ll follow the money … whether it be China, Romania, Ukraine, Russia, Uzbekistan, it went from there through a shell company — or two or three — and then it was dispersed to nine different Biden family members,” he said.

“At this point, he has not been one of the nine Biden family members.”

The White House is adamant that the president did nothing wrong, and that there is no evidence to suggest otherwise after an investigation into any relationship between him and Hunter Biden’s business dealings.

White House spokesperson Ian Sams slammed the timing of the hearing just two days before the government could shut down if no funding deal is reached.

“It’s time for the American people to know the truth. The Biden family was enriched beyond their wildest dreams by peddling the power and influence of Joe Biden. Federal bureaucrats covered it up. I look forward to the first of many impeachment inquiry hearings!” said Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).
