One thing many people will be talking about this week is the comparison in ratings between the Democratic National Convention and the Republican National Convention.

So far, the Republicans are running away with it.

The first night of the RNC dwarfed the DNC in viewers on the C-Span livestream.

First night of GOP convention delivers nearly six times more views than start of Democrats’ event on C-SPAN livestream

C-SPAN’s livestream of the first night of the Republican National Convention has attracted nearly 440,000 views, marking a substantial increase over the start of the Democratic National Convention, which drew 76,000 views.

The numbers for Monday night come ahead of traditional TV ratings from Nielsen Media Research, which will be released on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Nielsen, 18.7 million people tuned in to the first night of the virtual Democratic convention from Milwaukee and Wilmington, Del., on Aug. 17, which featured speeches from former first lady Michelle Obama and former Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R)

The first night of the Republican Convention was also a huge hit for FOX News.

Fox News Sets Ratings Record For First Night Of Republican Convention

15.8 million viewers watched the first night of the Republican National Convention Monday night, with Fox News Channel leading all cable and broadcast networks with the largest single audience—7.063 million viewers, according to ratings data compiled by Nielsen. FNC’s delivery set a record for the highest-rated first night of an RNC in television history.

Between the hours of 10 and 11 p.m. ET, Fox was far out in first place, followed by CNN, which drew a total audience of 2.009 million viewers. ABC was third with 1.978 million viewers, followed by NBC Broadcast (1.740 million), MSNBC (1.570 million), and CBS (1.479 million).

Among viewers 25-54, the demographic group most valued by advertisers, FNC was first with 1.572 million viewers, followed by CNN (606,000 viewers), NBC Broadcast (541,000 viewers), ABC (521,000 viewers), CBS (424,000 viewers) and MSNBC (308,000 viewers).

The numbers at the end of the week will bring further clarity, but Republicans are off to a good start.
