Former Attorney General Pam Bondi will testify before Congress about the Epstein files on May 29 after she failed to appear for a previously scheduled deposition.
“We have secured Bondi’s appearance for May 29,” the House Oversight Committee confirmed.
This is all theater and completely unnecessary. They were happy giving the Clintons a free pass for months.
We have secured Bondi's appearance for May 29.
Today, we're marking up legislation to tackle fraud at the federal level and all Democrats can talk about is Epstein. https://t.co/rfNaUA64A8

The Hill shared further:
Bondi was subpoenaed to testify after a surprise motion in March by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), who gained the support of four GOP colleagues and all Democrats on the panel.
The news came as Democrats on the committee introduced a resolution to hold Bondi in contempt.
“Pam Bondi has illegally defied our committee, skipped her deposition, and has refused to cooperate. We have introduced a contempt resolution, to hold her accountable. Bondi has extensive personal knowledge about the Trump Administration’s handling of the Epstein files, and regardless of her job title, her testimony and cooperation are crucial,” ranking member Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) said in a statement.
ADVERTISEMENTHe went on to accuse Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) of “trying to run out the clock” on Bondi.
After Bondi was fired by President Trump, the Department of Justice (DOJ) argued she no longer should have to appear. But Democrats rejected that argument, noting she was one of many former attorneys general subpoenaed by the committee and still had valuable knowledge of DOJ’s handling of the files.
House Oversight Democrats took credit for Republicans’ decision to publicly announce the date that Bondi will testify.
“Well look at this… 45 minutes after we file contempt charges against Pam Bondi for defying her subpoena to testify, @GOPoversight finally announces a date for her appearance. When Democrats fight, we win. And we won’t stop until we get justice,” a post on X read.

“Oversight Republicans were forced to announce a date for Pam Bondi’s deposition just minutes after we dropped a contempt resolution. If she skips the new date, we are ready. Pam Bondi oversaw a White House coverup and doxxed survivors. She will answer our questions,” a separate post read.

NBC News has more:
In an interview with NBC News’ “Meet the Press” earlier this month, Oversight Committee member Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., compared Bondi’s potential testimony with that of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s. Clinton and her husband, former president Bill Clinton, each testified in a closed-door deposition before the committee after the former president appeared in a series of photographs released with the Epstein files.
Bill Clinton has denied any wrongdoing related to Jeffrey Epstein and Hillary Clinton has said that she never met him.
“I mean, if we could chase Hillary Clinton, who hasn’t been in office for 20 years, certainly we can get Pam Bondi to explain why she covered up documents, why we haven’t had prosecution,” Khanna said on “Meet the Press.”
Last year, Khanna and Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., led the charge in Congress to pass a law compelling the Justice Department to release all files in the agency’s possession related to Epstein.
ADVERTISEMENTIn December, the department began releasing the Epstein files online, with several file drops occurring over the next several weeks.
The Justice Department has been heavily criticized by some lawmakers, Epstein survivors and right-wing media figures for how the agency has handled the release of the Epstein files.
What do you make of it?
