A gruesome murder case that began on Halloween has ended with the victim’s daughter delivering shocking details about how she perpetrated the crime.
According to the New York Post, Angie Mock pleaded guilty to the first-degree murder of Anita Avers at a residence they shared in Kansas:
Mock previously worked as a morning news anchor at KTVI in St. Louis from 2011 to 2015 and later at KOKH in Oklahoma City, but was working in sales at a data management software company at the time of the murder.
The Wichita Police Department responded to the home Mock shared with Avers and her stepfather around 7:50 a.m. on Oct. 31 last year to find Avers with multiple stab wounds, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Mock was found outside the home with cuts on her hands when they arrived and taken into custody, according to police.

Following her arrest, Mock made multiple statements claiming she believed her mother was the devil and told investigators she killed her to “save herself,” according to the affidavit.

Mock was also heard talking to herself when police arrived on scene, making statements suggesting she believed her mother was the devil.
“I’d kill that bitch to have my mom back any day. I don’t even know who she is anymore. I know, I believe she’s the devil,” Mock said, according to the affidavit.

Mock’s stepfather told investigators that she was initially diagnosed with bipolar disorder and was later diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, according to the affidavit.
A judge found Mock incompetent to stand trial in January after a court-ordered evaluation and ordered her to Larned State Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. In July, a judge found her competent to stand trial, allowing the case to proceed.
