Guilherme Vasconcelos, a mixed martial artist who competed in the UFC and Bellator, has passed away.

He was 38.

According to TMZ, the Brazilian fighter’s family and friends announced his death on Tuesday.

“Sad, very sad your farewell, Guilherme Vasconcelos! And so far from us in the USA. My dear nephew, my consecration godson, extreme father of little Naomi, much loved son of my sister Elisabete Vasconcelos and his father #chiropractor, partner and friend of his brothers, Breno and Isabela and our extended families who today mourn his premature departure. You pursued your dreams in America as an MMA fighter, Guilherme Bomba, became a Brazilian champion, but we don’t think she would also take you on a journey of no return, without any of us around,” Walter Vasconcelos Jr, his uncle, said on Facebook.

“We were waiting for you to come for Christmas that will no longer happen. Life is a breath and we wake up to this heartbreaking news. What times we are living in We are praying for you! May the God who is able receive you in His infinite mercy and comfort all of us who have always loved you unconditionally!” he added.

No cause of death was announced.

Per TMZ:

Vasconcelos made appearances across multiple MMA promotions … and accumulated a record of 10-6 over the course of his seven-year pro career.

The MMA fighter posted a photo outside a Jiu-Jitsu studio to his Instagram less than 24 hours ago.

Fox News reports:

The Brazilian native competed for several companies before he made his debut at Bellator 157 in June 2016. He defeated Jordan Dowdy and John Mercurio in his first two Bellator bouts before suffering a string of losses.

He last fought in Bellator in October 2019.

Vasconcelos made one appearance in the UFC, fighting against Luke Zachrich in July 2014 on the UFC 175 card. He lost via unanimous decision and did not fight for the company again.

He was 10-6 as a pro in MMA.

Vasconcelos was also in the celebrity world for a brief moment. He was linked with pop star Demi Lovato for a short period of time in 2017. They broke up after a few months.
