Emily Compagno had one last goodbye for the viewers who have spent their lunch hour with her for more than five years.
The Fox News host signed off from “Outnumbered” on Friday, September 4, thanking the audience and the people behind the cameras as she prepares for a new permanent role on “The Five.”
It was a warm sendoff for a familiar face. Compagno is staying at Fox, with her first day as a full-time co-host of the afternoon panel set for Tuesday, September 8.

According to the New York Post, Compagno used her final signoff to thank viewers for trusting her with the daily task of delivering and analyzing the news.
She also singled out executive producer Trina Thompson, the stage crew and the broader “Outnumbered” team, crediting their work for the program’s quality.
Compagno called the job an “extraordinary privilege” before leaving viewers with a short reminder of where to find her next: “From now on, see you at 5:00.”
That is a big change for people accustomed to seeing her alongside Harris Faulkner and Kayleigh McEnany at noon Eastern. A regular host becomes part of the daily routine, and Friday’s goodbye brought that relationship into focus.

Fox News Media announced on August 24 that Compagno would join “The Five” permanently beginning September 8, joining Greg Gutfeld, Dana Perino and Jesse Watters, with Harold Ford Jr. and Jessica Tarlov continuing to rotate in the liberal seat.
The network said other Fox personalities would rotate through her “Outnumbered” seat until a permanent co-host is named. The change brings her daily assignment from the noon Eastern program to Fox’s 5 p.m. Eastern panel.
Compagno described the chance to join a team she had long admired as an honor and said she was eager to begin. Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott praised her hosting ability and her work across the network.
Fox reported that “The Five” averaged 3.6 million viewers in the second quarter of 2026, including 322,000 adults ages 25 to 54. The network said that marked its 19th straight quarter as cable news’ most-watched show.
Meanwhile, the opening at “Outnumbered” has viewers making suggestions of their own. This response called for Lisa Boothe to take a permanent seat:

That is a viewer’s suggestion, with Fox’s announced plan still calling for rotating hosts.
Compagno’s run as a permanent “Outnumbered” co-host began on January 25, 2021, according to Fox News’ original announcement.
She had joined the network as a contributor in December 2018 and was already appearing on both “Outnumbered” and “The Five” before receiving the daily assignment.
Her background includes criminal defense and civil litigation, work at the Social Security Administration, and service as captain of the Oakland Raiders’ cheerleading squad. Fox cited both her legal experience and her connection with the audience when it promoted her in 2021.
That announcement also described her work on “Crimes That Changed America,” a Fox Nation series examining criminal cases and their lasting effects on the justice system. The network had tapped her to host it in March 2020.
Her law degree came from the University of San Francisco, following undergraduate study at the University of Washington. Before her television career, she practiced in California and worked in federal government.
Now, more than five years later, she is moving from the midday couch to a permanent place at the afternoon table.
For viewers following her to “The Five,” the new appointment is Tuesday at 5 p.m. Eastern, 4 p.m. Central.
