Dr. Ben Carson is one of the most brilliant pediatric neurosurgeons in the world. Yesterday, he appeared on Fox News with Neil Cavuto for a live interview where they discussed COVID vaccinations.
Cavuto asked Dr. Carson to explain his views on the progress America is making on vaccinating the American public. “I think we’ve made enormous progress on the vaccine front,” Dr. Carson told Cavuto. “However, because we’ve allowed politics to be injected into it, I think a lot of people are skeptical about what they hear from the NIH, from the CDC, uh, from various [quote] “authorities,” he said.
Dr. Carson explained his views on vaccinations as the only cure for COVID: “It’s hurting us as a nation. We, as a nation, for instance, wanted to be focused only on one thing: vaccinations. There were people telling us, you know, there are other kinds of things that work. Hydroxychloroquine. You know you look at the Western African countries along the coast. When you go there, you know, you have to take hydroxychloroquine or other antimalarials. Interestingly enough, their instance of COVID-19 is dramatically less than ours. Is that a coincidence? I don’t think so.”
Fox News hack host Neil Cavuto interrupted the acclaimed neurosurgeon Dr. Carson to inject his medical expertise to remind FOX News viewers to remind viewers that hydroxychloroquine can be dangerous. Cavuto switched gears after saying a lot of medical experts have “poo-pooed” hydroxychloroquine and attempted to suggest that President Trump supporters are not taking the vaccine and that perhaps Trump should be pushing people to take the vaccine.
Dr. Carson said that politics have injected themselves into a cure for COVID, as he came back to the hydroxychloroquine discussion again, and Cavuto warned that people with heart issues shouldn’t take the pill. “No, that’s not the issue,” Carson told him, adding that the issue is only putting one solution on the table. “At the time, the FDA did not recommend it,” Cavuto responded to Dr. Carson. “The issue right now is—are we being truthful?” Carson asked. He asked Cavuto why no one is talking about natural or herd immunity? Dr. Carson told Cavuto’s Fox News viewers that he believes we are very close to herd immunity, and we need to take the politics out of it.”
