OUR PREVIOUS REPORT ON WHAT HAPPENED TO LANDEN HOFFMANN:

A suspect has been arrested and charged with attempted homicide in the mysterious case of a 5-year-old boy being thrown from the third-floor balcony of the Mall of America. It’s hard to imagine anyone doing something so violent to a small child who is not known to him. As it turns out, the man had been arrested twice before at the mall. He had also been banned from Mall of America, and was charged in two separate incidents at the mall in 2015. In July of that year, Aranda was charged with causing damage inside stores, throwing items off of a balcony to a lower level and resisting arrest. Aranda was then charged in October of that year for throwing a glass of water and a glass of tea at a woman inside of Twin Cities Grill after she refused to buy him food.

Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda, 24, is in custody after he was apprehended fleeing the Mall of America via the mall transit station.

Aranda is suspected of “throwing or pushing” a young boy over the balcony at the mall. There is no known connection between the boy’s family and the suspect which makes this case even more puzzling.

Witnesses told police that a 5-year-old boy had been “pushed or thrown” from the third floor of the mall balcony.

The Star Tribune reports the boy’s mother was screaming for help. Several people tried to give the boy CPR, but it was reported he wasn’t breathing. He was taken to the local hospital. There is no report on his condition at this time.

The suspect ran to the first floor of the mall and was trying to flee when a brave elderly man tried to stop him. The suspect assaulted the man and eventually was caught at the transit station.

The Bloomington Police Chief said:  “At this point, we believe this is an isolated incident. We’re actively trying to figure out why this occurred. We don’t believe there is a threat to the public at this point.”

This man was a threat before he committed this horrific crime He had been arrested in the mall for dropping things over the third floor balcony and assaulted a woman at a mall restaurant.

The suspect’s record indicates he has been convicted of trespassing, fifth-degree assault and interfering with a police officer. Also, he has a felony conviction for first-degree damage to property.
