The woman who did the questioning of Christine Blasey Ford today gave her recommendation and it’s not good news for Ms. Ford:

Politico reporter Burgess Everett reports:

Republicans went through a 30-minute debriefing meeting after the testimony where the GOP lawyer broke everything down for the Senators. Even though she didn’t tell them how to vote, she did say:

The GOP lawyer Rachel Mitchell told Republicans she wouldn’t bring charges against Kavanaugh or even request a search warrant if she were presented with the case. That’s the GOP closing argument, per a person briefed on the meeting.

The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board agrees with Ms. Mitchell:

CONFIRM BRETT KAVANAUGH:

Thursday’s Senate hearing on Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination was an embarrassment that should have never happened. Judge Kavanaugh was right to call the confirmation process a “disgrace” in his passionate self-defense, and whatever one thinks of Christine Blasey Ford’s assault accusation, she offered no corroboration or new supporting evidence.

Could this be another nail in the coffin that will push Judge Kavanaugh over the finish line? We hope so!

It’s being reported that Collins, Murkowski and Flake were in a conference meeting but gave no indication on how they would vote. It’s also being reported that Senator Joe Manchin is leaning towards voting for Kavanaugh.

Jeff Flake told reporters late today, “If you’re making an allegation, you want there to be some corroboration. And that’s a tough standard. I want to give it some thought tonight. I do. So, this is a tough decision. It really is.”

Senator Ben Sasse of Nebraska said that the meeting with Ms. Mitchell revealed:  “facts that were established and not established.”

Rachel Mitchell is a highly regarded expert in the field of sexual assault and came to the conclusion that Ms. Ford has nothing on Kavanaugh. That should be all you need to hear…

“He fought with passion, evidence, and compassion. And absent any new, substantiated revelations, he united the conservative movement. Any Republican who abandons him now will abandon the electorate that put them in power.” – David A French
