TIME FOR STATES TO STEP UP AND ARM SOLDIERS ON BASES. Several high profile governors have taken steps to do just that. Florida Governor Rick Scott and Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal have already taken steps to protect our military. Ultimately, arming our soldiers on military bases is the way to go.
The murder of five unarmed members of our military on Thursday in Chattanooga by a 24-year-old, Kuwaiti-born Muslim terrorist highlights the utter lunacy of President Obama’s politically-correct order that prohibits members of our Armed Forces from carrying arms while on duty in the United States.
While fighting Islamic terrorists in Afghanistan, our soldiers are aptly named the United States Armed Forces. But here at home, thanks to these foolish national policies, our soldiers could be more accurately called the United States “Unarmed Forces.”
A feckless president and a neutered military leadership have so thoroughly abandoned common sense that our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines have now become easy targets to be sacrificed to our Islamist enemies on the altar of political correctness.
Governors in all 50 states have the power to guarantee that members of their state’s national guard and reserves will no longer be sitting ducks to be picked off one by one by Muslim terrorists.
In Oklahoma, for instance, “Governor Fallin issued an executive order citing Sections 2 and 6 of Article VI of the Oklahoma Constitution which allows Maj. Gen. Robbie L. Asher to arm certain full-time personnel at Oklahoma military installations with weaponry as he deems necessary. The order also allows for military recruiting offices to be armed.”
In Louisiana, “Governor Jindal issued an Executive Order authorizing the Adjutant General of the Louisiana National Guard to identify and arm National Guard personnel at military facilities in order to protect those facilities.”
Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, Florida Gov. Rick Scott, and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott are taking similar steps to protect the men and women who are trained to fight for our freedom and liberty on foreign soil, but are unable to protect themselves here at home. Here in Tennessee as of this writing, our own Gov. Bill Haslam has been as silent on the issue of acting in pursuant to his oath of office and his responsibilities as Commander and Chief of the Tennessee National Guard.
Gov. Haslam: The people are waiting for you to step forward and provide the leadership that five other governors have provided to their states. The time for dithering is over.
Tennessee is under attack from radical Muslims, and we demand that you take all necessary measures to insure the safety and protection of our military personnel.
Can you imagine how Govs. John Sevier or Sam Houston would have reacted to such an unprovoked attack on the sovereignty of the State of Tennessee? This is why we have a Tenth amendment.
“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people,” it reads.
Let’s face it. Though the federal government has the power to arm soldiers here in the United States, under this American-tradition hating administration, it is not exercising that power.
It’s up to the states now to lead the way.
