Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene challenged Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to a debate on the Green New Deal via Twitter on Wednesday.

In a series of tweets challenging AOC, Greene wrote, “@AOC I’d like to challenge you to a debate on the Green New Deal economic policy. Since you sponsored the Green New Deal and have a degree in Economics, I’m sure you are more than qualified”.

In a follow-up tweet, Green wrote, “I just have a degree in Business Admin and have owned a construction company for 20 years. A debate between AOC and I on the Green New Deal economic policy would be informative for the American People. They deserve to hear the two sides with pro’s and cons.”

Greene went on to suggest that each Rep. pick a moderator and hold their debate on a major news network in order to let the American people see both sides of the deal. She even suggested that they charge people to watch the debate and donate the money raised to causes of their choosing.

Greene, along with many other Republicans, thinks this Green New Deal is as unrealistic as it is costly, and has worked to address the downsides of the deal.

Being one of the most prominent supporters of the Green New Deal, AOC should be nothing short of an expert on the deal and should have no problem defending her points in a debate. However, she has not responded to Greene’s challenge.
