Sheila O’Leary, a 39 yr old vegan mom, was found guilty of murder on Tuesday. She has been charged with the death of her son, who was 18 months old and weighed 17 lbs when he died in 2019.

The boy died from complications after being malnourished. He was fed only breastmilk, fruits, and vegetables.
Sheila and Ryan O’leary are facing life in prison and Sheila will be sentenced on July 25. Ryan is awaiting trial.

According to Daily Mail, the state assistant prosecutor Sara Miller accused Sheila  of ignoring her child’s emaciated condition.

‘She chose to disregard his cries. She didn’t need a scale to see his bones.
‘She didn’t need a scale to hear his cry,’

The couple shared two other children, a five-year-old and a three-year-old, who were also malnourished. Both were described as having yellow skin and black teeth resulting from their dismal diet and dental care. According to the attorney, one of the children needed oral surgery to remove teeth.

On the day of his death, the toddler had been nursing when he started having difficulty breathing.
Rather than calling 911, his parents went to sleep. When they woke, he was no longer breathing. The little boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sheila also has an eleven-year-old daughter who has a different father. It has been determined that she is in good health because of the nourishment she receives at his home.
