Legendary guitarist Al Di Meola, 69, suffered a heart attack on stage while performing in Romania Wednesday.

Photographers at the concert captured the moment where Di Meola clutched his chest and struggled to walk off the stage.

The show was cut short several minutes later and Di Meola canceled his remaining tour dates.

Di Meola was rushed to the hospital where doctors discovered that he had suffered a segment elevation myocardial infarction.

The guitarist shared this message with his followers and fans on Facebook following the incident.

Daily Mail reports:

Di Meola, 69, had been playing a concert at Arenele Romane venue in Bucharest, Romania, on Wednesday night when he had a heart attack.

Images captured at the concert show Di Meola clasping his chest during the performance, and is said to have struggled to walk off stage.

The other two members of Di Meola’s tio continued to play for several minutes following his departure, until they announced the show had to be cut short.

In footage captured at the concert, one of his bandmates can be heard telling the crowd: ‘Thank you so much for coming out, Al Di Meola says hello to everybody.’

Unsurprisingly, questions arose whether or not the talented guitarist received the experimental COVID-19 injection.

In a 2021 Facebook post, Di Meola said he took the first dose of the Moderna mRNA COVID-19 shot.

“Ooooouuuuccchhhhh!!! :)) Got the first dose of the Moderna vaccine! Let’s resume to playing live as soon as it’s safe again for everybody! Piece of cake easy ! Zero pain ! Zero side effects ! I highly recommend that we all get this vaccine!!! Play your part in helping to eradicate this virus! Please! Was just kidding in the pic!” Di Meola wrote in the caption.
