The government response to the Maui fires, on a federal, state, and local level, has been befuddling at best and diabolical at worst.

We can list numerous examples of suspicious responses to the disaster, which reportedly has claimed the lives of hundreds, possibly thousands, of residents.

M. Kaleo Manuel, former deputy director of the Hawaii Commission on Water Resource Management, reportedly waited over five hours to release water at a critical juncture on August 8th during the fire.

Maui Emergency Operations Chief Herman Andaya said he had no regrets about not sounding the sirens of Maui’s first-class Emergency Warning System to alert residents of the raging fires.

In addition, Hawaii Governor Josh Green told the media, “I’m already thinking about ways for the state to acquire the land.”

“Delayed aid, a lack of relief supplies, and politicized explanations for the start of the fire all have the American people pointing fingers at incompetent authorities,” WLTReport stated.

Additional comments by Green after the tragedy raised eyebrows about the government’s response.

Green took a shot at independent media and said “doing reporting through social media is idiotic.”

According to “Fox and Friends Weekend” co-host Will Cain, the mayor of Maui tried to kick them out of West Maui and claimed it’s a “media free zone.”

The government essentially is telling the public, ‘you will rely on information from us and only us, so shut up.’

What are they hiding?

Why do they want a media blackout in Maui?

Zero Hedge reports:

There are a few possible takeaways to be gathered here: First, it’s clear that independent reporting is having an effect in exposing state mismanagement, which is why they are attacking “influencers” and putting access on ice. Second, public pressure must be immense, because even the local media is trying to stave off the torches and pitchforks by reiterating that they have no access. When was the last time you saw the mainstream media calling out information controls instead of working in direct lockstep with officials? Third, there is something going on in Maui beyond bureaucratic hubris.

Why block the media from going to the site of the fire? Why try to inoculate the public to any information outside of government sources? Is there something they are trying to hide beyond incompetence? There is evidence to suggest that a major land grab is already in progress, with wealthy interests as well as state interests circling the charred Maui carcass ready to feed. There are also questions as to the true source of the fires.
