During a Trump administration Cabinet meeting, Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said the department would soon make an announcement regarding autism.

RFK Jr. said “certain interventions” are “almost certainly” causing autism.

He said to expect an announcement in September.

“There has to be something artificially causing this. Meaning a drug or something,” President Trump said.

The health secretary explained in 1970 an epidemiological study showed an autism incidence rate of 0.7 per every 10,000.

He said the most recent numbers indicate an incidence rate of 1 per every 31, adding that it’s probably much worse.

“California, which has the best collection system, is reporting 1 out of every 19 children,” RFK Jr. said.

“1 in every 12.5 boys,” he added.

In April, Kennedy vowed to find the cause of growing rates of autism, calling it an “epidemic” that “dwarfs the COVID epidemic.”

President Trump asked Kennedy for a progress update during a Cabinet meeting Tuesday, saying, “The autism is such a tremendous horror show. What’s happening in our country and some other countries, but mostly our country. How are you doing?”

“We are doing very well,” Kennedy responded. “We will have announcements as promised in September, finding interventions, certain interventions, now that are clearly almost certainly causing autism. And we’re going to be able to address those in September.”

Kennedy has long claimed that environmental factors, or vaccines, are likely culprits behind the rising rate of autism diagnoses, arguing research to back this up has been blocked by federal authorities. He argued in April that autism should be prevented because autistic people are burdens on their family and society.

“At least SEVEN peer-reviewed studies indicate that childhood vaccination is STRONGLY associated with autism,” said Nicolas Hulscher, epidemiologist and administrator at the McCullough Foundation.

1️⃣ Mawson & Jacob: 📈 OR 2.7 (+170% autism, p < 0.0001), RR 4.4 (+340% autism for 11+ vaccine visits, p < 0.0001)

2️⃣ Mawson et al: 📈 OR 4.2 (+320% autism, p = 0.013)

3️⃣ Hooker & Miller: 📈 OR 5.03 (+403% autism, p = 0.0048)

4️⃣DeLong: 📈 1%↑ vaccination → 1.7%↑ autism prevalence (680 additional cases, p < 0.01)

5⃣ Tomljenovic & Shaw: A strong correlation (r=0.92, p<0.0001) exists between increased aluminum adjuvant exposure and the rise in ASD prevalence over two decades.

6⃣ Boretti: Aluminum adjuvants in vaccines is a plausible explanation for autism based on ecological studies, animal models, brain tissue analysis, and biological mechanisms.

7⃣ Mold et al: Found extraordinarily high aluminum levels in ASD brains, embedded in neurons, immune cells, and brain tissue.

In an April 15 report, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that in 2022, one in 31 children were diagnosed with autism by age 8 in the United States, an uptick from one in 36 children in 2020. The prevalence of autism among boys was 1 in 20, and the 2022 rate is five times higher than it was in 2000.

One day after the study was released, Kennedy announced that the U.S. National Institutes of Health would undertake a “series of new studies to identify precisely what the environmental toxins are that are causing it” and set a September deadline.

“This is coming from an environmental toxin and somebody made it and put that environmental toxin into our air or water or medicines or food,” Kennedy said during the news conference April 16 press conference at the HHS headquarters in Washington, D.C

Autism spectrum disorder is diagnosed based on challenges with social skills, communication and repetitive behaviors. It is a spectrum, meaning symptoms vary widely, with a percentage unable to communicate at all and others highly successful in some areas of life.
