On Thursday, House Republicans voted to amend Title IX protections by banning biological males from competing in women’s sports, regardless of their gender identity.

The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act passed 219-203, earning no Democrat support. This bill would revoke federal funding for women’s athletics programs that allow transgender athletes to compete, therefore preventing biological men from joining athletic teams that are intended for girls and women.

This bill would not, however, block transgender women from training or participating in female athletic programs “so long as no female is deprived of a roster spot on a team or sport, opportunity to participate in a practice or competition, scholarship, admission to an educational institution”.

Ahead of the vote, GOP conference chairwoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) said that she anticipated this “historic legislation” would “protect women and girls in sports.”

Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), the chairwoman of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, applauded the legislation’s passing, calling it “a monumental win for women and girls across our country.”

“Harm is being done to female athletes, and the American people know this is wrong,” said Foxx. “The strides of women in sports should never be sacrificed to appease the radical woke mobs on the left.”

“Biological women and girls should only be competing against other biological women and girls,” said Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R-TX). “And I don’t care how many surgeries you have, I don’t care how many chemicals you put into your body. You’re not going to be a biological woman.”

Democrats, however, argued that this bill is simply about “bullying” children who identify as transgender, showing no regard for the harm done to female athletes who are forced to compete against biological men.

Democrat reps spoke out against the bill, lying to the American people and spreading the false narrative that the bill is only meant to bully trans children, calling it “traumatizing” and “hateful.”

“This bill is about bullying children,” said Rep. Greg Landsman (D-OH). “Stop bullying children.”

“House Republicans are choosing to bully and belittle trans children,” Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) said. “This is about attacking a small group of children, and it is shameful.

In a dramatic statement, Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash) said, “We should rename it ‘cancel kids trans hate’ bill. This bill fuels a virulent hate campaign against kids who just want to play with their friends.”

Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif) even tried arguing that this bill will make school sports “less safe for women and girls.”

As usual, the Democrat agenda is all about satisfying the needs of a very small segment of the population, no matter who else is affected.

The bill will be sent to the Senate, where Democrat lawmakers are unlikely to vote it through. If it does make it to the desk of Joe Biden, he said he will veto the bill.
