Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) said he “broke a rib” after being “kicked by a horse.”

“While working on his farm over the weekend, Congressman Burchett was accidently kicked by a horse. He suffered a broken rib and bruising but hasn’t missed a beat. He spoke in Maury County last night and has a full slate of district events throughout the week. There have been no changes to his schedule,” Burchett’s office said, according to Fox News Congressional Correspondent Chad Pergram.

Office of GOP TN Rep Burchett: “While working on his farm over the weekend, Congressman Burchett was accidently kicked by a horse. He suffered a broken rib and bruising but hasn’t missed a beat. He spoke in Maury County last night and has a full slate of district events throughout the week. There have been no changes to his schedule.”

Burchett tells me a “horsefly” got on the tail of one his horses on Sunday and it got spooked, kicking him in the chest “with both hooves”

Burchett says the doctor told him he’s lucky because it would have been a problem “had it been an inch-and-a-half higher.”

“It’s a cool mark. I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a tattoo,” kidded Burchett.

Burchett later addressed the reports himself on social media.

“Since everyone is asking, here’s the deal: On Sunday, I was kicked by a horse. Broke a rib. He didn’t like being bit by that horse fly, and my rib was collateral damage. On Monday, I traveled 3.5 hours to middle Tennessee. Attended 3 events. Got back to the farm at 2:30am,” Burchett said.

“Today, I was awake by 6am. Traveled to Campbell County. Attended 2 events. It’s going to take more than a broken rib to slow me down. I sincerely appreciate everyone’s concern and prayers for a quick recovery. Pray for our country,” he added.

The incident isn’t the first time someone in Burchett’s family sustained a horse-related injury.

The Hill explained:

In 2022, Burchett’s young daughter was hospitalized after being injured on a horse.

“Count our blessings because she’s alive and that’s all we really care about,” Burchett said at the time.

“She’s a tough little girl — she’ll be back on that horse,” he added.
