On January 2, 2023, 24-year-old Christian and Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field during a game against the Vikings. His collapse was due to a cardiac arrest. America came together to lift him up in prayer.

Janice Ponds writes:
Our nation came together with one accord, prayed, and believed God for the same thing.
The same thing.
24-year-old Damar Hamlin’s first question when waking up was, ”Did we win?”
Yes, Mr. Hamlin, I believe we did.
Keep this young man covered in prayer, as I believe his story will be a powerful testimony to our nation. Reportedly, he is making remarkable improvement, with the breathing tube now having been removed.
As a devout Christian, he has previously stated the value of family in his life. The value of family has probably gone to another level for them as they held hands with him today.
I love the words of my friend Earl Groves:
”I’m not a big fan of the NFL, but I feel like this needs to be addressed.
When Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field, the entire team surrounded him and began to pray. The commentators said multiple times that all we can do for him right now is to pray and keep praying.
Tim Tebow was basically shunned by the league when he would begin each game by kneeling down and praying for God’s protection for not only him but all the players and staff on the field.
Why is it only “allowed” on national television to talk about prayer in such a magnificent way when we need God’s intervention? It’s a national uproar when God is mentioned on a daily basis. Many schools have taken His name out of the pledge of allegiance. A lot of schools no longer pray at graduation for the lives of our children set out to find their own path in life. When it comes to daily activities, mentioning “GOD” has become taboo. Why? I need to know why?!?!?!
Do not just call out to Him in your times of great need… call out to Him during your victories just as much as you do during your struggles. God is not ammunition to use only when needed.
Let prayer become a daily activity and not just when someone is hurt.
We need Him ALL THE TIME!!! I said what I said!”
A special thank you to conservative author and speaker Janice Ponds for contributing to the uplifting story of how Damar Hamlin brought America together in faith.
Damar’s collapse on the field revealed how many people in the sports industry have strong faith, as they publicly revealed their reliance on God’s healing powers:
One of the big ah-ha moments from the Damar Hamlin ordeal is how many people of faith are in media and sports than anyone realized.
But they feel pressure not to talk about…until tragedy happens.

One of the most powerful testaments to faith and the power of prayer happened when ESPN host and former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky bravely prayed on air for Damar Hamlin while his fellow ESPN hosts joined him:

Mark 11:22-24
22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered.
23 “Truly, I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.
24 Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
The power of prayer is undeniable.
Damar Hamlin’s collapse and subsequent recovery are powerful reminders of God’s healing powers.
