Representative Alexandria Occasio Cortez (D-Ny.) holds herself out as a champion of the poor and has frequently advocated for raising taxes on the rich.  She, of course, is in the top 5 percent of earners due to the salary she earns by being a member of Congress.

If that isn’t hypocritical enough on its own, many remember the incident where she wore a “Tax the rich” dress to the Met Gala, an event that costs over $30,000 per ticket.

Then last week, AOC said that getting her nails done was an ‘act of resistance’ in response to the Supreme Court overturning Roe v Wade.

The numerous instances of hypocrisy paint the picture of someone who came in to Washington as a left-wing populist outsider and is now nothing more than a Twitter warrior who is a part of the D.C elite.

In yet another instance of hypocrisy, AOC apparently does not believe that her tax and spend policies should apply to her as she continues to get fined for not paying back taxes.

The Washington Examiner Reports

Fines are piling up for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) over her failure to resolve a New York state tax warrant filed against her defunct business five years ago.

New York state filed a tax warrant against Brook Avenue Press, a children-focused publishing house Ocasio-Cortez founded in 2012, on July 6, 2017, to collect $1,618 in unpaid corporate taxes. Ocasio-Cortez has yet to pay a penny of her overdue corporate taxes, causing the current balance of the tax warrant to swell by 52% to $2,461 as of Wednesday afternoon.

New York dissolved Brook Avenue Press in October 2016, state corporate records show. The state filed its tax warrant against Ocasio-Cortez’s defunct business about two months after she launched her successful primary campaign against former Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY).
