I thought Democrats were against IDs?

Apparently, that only applies to elections.

A new report by Fox News has revealed that some visitors who wish to attend Obama’s new presidential library will have to show ID.

According to the report, Illinois residents who wish to enter for free must show proof of ID.

Fox News broke the story:

The Obama Presidential Center is facing a wave of backlash ahead of its opening, with critics blasting its admission policies and raising broader concerns about the project’s cost and management.

Conservative commentators on social media are taking aim at the center’s requirement that Illinois residents show valid identification to receive free admission on certain days, arguing it contrasts with Democratic opposition to voter ID laws.

“They’re making you show ID… to visit the Obama Library… in Chicago. You can’t make this stuff up!” one social media user wrote.

“The Obama Presidential Library is making people show an ID for proof of Illinois residency to get in for free,” another posted. “So residents have to prove who they are for this, but not to vote?”

Others echoed the sentiment more bluntly, with one account writing: “It turns out Democrats support requiring ID… but only for free admission into Obama’s library.”

Obama’s website clearly states that Illinois residents “must be able to provide proof of residency. Be prepared to show proof of residency at the Museum with a valid photo ID, Illinois driver’s license, state ID, or city-issued ID.”

In recent years, the design of Obama’s library has faced major backlash.

Here’s the comparison to Trump’s new presidential library:

The New York Times had these details to report on Trump’s new library:

A skyscraper with a red, white and blue spire. A golden escalator. Airplanes, including what appears to be Air Force One, displayed in the lobby.

President Trump unveiled a nearly two-minute video rendering, which appeared to include elements generated by artificial intelligence, depicting his future presidential library in downtown Miami on Monday evening. It shows “TRUMP” emblazoned in gold letters across the front of the building above an American flag that in one scene appears to have 56 stars. Inside, visitors are surrounded by the gilded Mar-a-Lago style that now adorns much of the White House.

On the windows outside of the skyscraper, digital screens appear to replay Mr. Trump’s speeches. A golden arch bearing the presidential seal outlines the entrance. Inside, visitors walk beneath what appears to be Air Force One near the entrance. An auditorium features a massive golden statue onstage of Mr. Trump stretching his fist nearly to the ceiling.

The video also appears to show replicas of the White House Rose Garden, which Mr. Trump recently renovated, and his planned $400 million, 90,000-square-foot ballroom.
