In honor of Earth Day, President Biden held a global climate summit at which he announced his plans to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2030. Among the speakers at the summit was Biden’s Climate Envoy, John Kerry, who expressed an interesting goal of completely eliminating CO2 from our atmosphere despite its essential role in many processes of nature.

At the climate summit, Kerry spoke about his goals for the world’s CO2 emissions, saying to a fellow panel of speakers, “You said twice getting to net-zero [carbon emissions] was gonna be hard, really hard… but even if we get to net-zero, we still have to get carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.”

Kerry’s ambitions seem to meet the approval of the fellow panelists, as they nod in agreement with what he’s proposing. However, this initiative goes against basic environmental science, as CO2 plays an essential role in our world’s environment. Carbon dioxide is crucial to many plant and animal processes such as photosynthesis and respiration. It seems that Kerry is forgetting that without CO2 to fuel photosynthesis, there would be very little to no oxygen remaining on our planet.

Earlier this morning, Kerry also tweeted out a call for all people to lead by example and work together to reduce carbon emissions. The tweet said:

As @POTUS reminded us, “We will lead not merely by the example of our power but by the power of our example.” This Earth Day we’re working hard to lower our emissions & encouraging other countries to do the same. This is how we solve the climate crisis. Together. #RestoreOurEarth

A nice sentiment, but as Kerry preaches ‘leading by example’, he continues to fly around in his private jet, emitting a yearly 116 metric tons of carbon emissions — equivalent to the yearly emissions of 36 cars. So while he may get praise from the Left for his (uninformed and hypocritical) environmental advice, Kerry is perfectly comfortable sitting back in his private jet and leave everyone else to do their part to ‘save the world’.
