It looks like Housing and Urban Development Secretary Dr. Ben Carson is trying to put legal Americans first when it comes to affordable housing for low-income Americans. HUD has proposed an amendment that would basically kick out illegals in affordable housing because this is a “scarce public resource” that should go to legal Americans first.

Why in the world are taxpayers paying for illegal aliens to have Section 8 housing? It’s mind-blowing to read the entitled attitude from people who are involved in housing in California. They are shocked and fighting mad at President Trump about this much-needed change.

The Fresno Bee reports that Dr. Ben Carson addressed the “scarce public resources” that legal citizens are entitled to in a statement released today:

“Our country is facing affordable housing challenges and we need to make certain our scarce public resources help those who are legally entitled to them. Given the overwhelming demand for our programs, fairness requires that we devote ourselves to legal residents who have been waiting, some for many years, to access affordable housing.”

The current numbers are staggering and could be higher because many illegals use false identities:

“Steven Camarota, director of research at CIS, said an estimated 3 to 6% of households on public housing assistance are headed by a family member who is undocumented in the country. That translates to anywhere between 100,000 to 200,000 households.”

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is proposing to target families with illegals living in housing.

Advocates for these non-citizens are shocked at the change:

“It has the potential to displace thousands of families….I’m pretty shocked to read about the length the Trump administration will go to further relegate undocumented immigrant communities to the shadows. It’s just an example of another method or strategy from the Trump administration to remove immigrants from this country.”

Preston Prince, executive director of the Fresno Housing Authority expressed concern:

”Fresno is rich in culture and diversity and given the agriculture industry throughout the Central Valley, it is very likely that some of the families we serve may be impacted by such proposed rule.

Providing public housing assistance for undocumented people should be outlawed.

Remember Obama’s aunt was living off of the American taxpayers in public housing? The San Diego Union-Tribune reported in 2009:

Untold thousands of illegal immigrants live in public housing at a time when hundreds of thousands of citizens and legal residents are stuck waiting years for a spot.

Illegal immigrants make up a tiny portion of the 7.1 million people in federal housing, according to government statistics. But authorities may be unaware of thousands more, and critics say no illegal immigrant should get housing benefits.

The issue made headlines in November with news that Zeituni Onyango, an aunt of President-elect Barack Obama, was living in Boston public housing while in the country illegally.

Why give taxpayer dollars to people who are in this country illegally?
