Governor Pritzker from Illinois has written a letter to Governor Abbott of Texas to give “mercy” to the immigrants being bussed to Chicago.

Texas has been sending illegal immigrants to Democrat cities such as Chicago and New York recently.

We have seen these cities stretching their resources thin to solve this crisis.

Fox News has more on the story:

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker is urging Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to stop sending migrants to Chicago due to incoming winter storms, an appeal that drew pushback from the Lone Star State.

“While action is pending at the federal level, I plead with you for mercy for the thousands of people who are powerless to speak for themselves,” Pritzker said in a letter, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. “Please, while winter is threatening vulnerable people’s lives, suspend your transports and do not send more people to our state.”

Temperatures are due to plunge in the coming days in the city, and Pritzker claimed that the buses and planes transporting migrants to Chicago during such conditions are “now life-threatening to every one of the arrivals.”

“Hundreds of children’s and families’ health and survival are at risk due to your actions,” he said, according to the Sun-Times.

Abbott has sent over 30,000 migrants to Chicago since the middle of 2022, as part of a project to relieve overwhelmed border towns by sending migrants to “sanctuary” cities that also include Washington D.C., New York City and others.

Governor Abbott is doing a fantastic job at forcing these Democrat cities to deal with the problems that they have created.

Democrats push for open borders, and yet once they are confronted with these immigrants in their city, they play a different tune.

NBC 5 Chicago shares more:

In a public letter issued on Friday, Pritzker acknowledged that him and Gov. Greg Abbott both desire federal immigration reform before accusing Abbott of choosing to “sow chaos in an attempt to score political points.”

“You are now sending asylum seekers from Texas to the Upper Midwest in the middle of winter – many without coats, without shoes to protect them from the snow – to a city whose shelters are already overfilled with migrants you sent here,” Pritzker said.

The practice of sending asylum seeking migrants to Chicago and other sanctuary cities began in 2022, with New York City, Washington, D.C. and Denver being among the other cities targeted by the practice Abbott coined as “Operation Lone Star.”

With arctic air heading to the area that could see temperatures fail to climb above 0 degrees early next week, Pritzker is asking Abbott to at least pause sending migrants to Chicago with treacherous weather ahead.

“You seem to have no interest in working on bipartisan solutions to the border crisis because that would put an end to your cruel political game, but I am writing to you today hoping to appeal to your humanity,” Pritzker said.
