It took an Iranian journalist and activist to set the record straight on the true reaction from Iranians after the targeted death of an Iranian General overnight by the US military.
Masih Alinejad told Sandra Smith on “America’s Newsroom” that the truth is the Iranian people aren’t mourning the death of General Soleimani.
“So, all you see in Iranian state television…state media is like…showing some people took to the street mourning and showing their sympathy towards Qassem Soleimani. But, the fact is this…many Iranians do not see him as a hero and if you go to social media, that they are very happy.
Then Alinejad answered the important question of why the people aren’t mourning the general:
“Why? Because they have been witnessing how the Revolutionary Guard killed people in the streets across Iran.”
Alinejad also tweeted out after the death of Soleimani directing her comments to the “Western media”:
IMPORTANT: “For many Iranians, Qassem Soleimani was a warmonger who caused massive casualties in Syria. He was no hero to average Iranians who chanted against the country’s support for Hezbollah and Hamas. Unfortunately, Western media misses the point by glorifying Soleimani— He was the common enemy for people in Iran, Lebanon, Iraq, and Syria. His involvement in the crackdown against university students in the late 1990s was another black mark against him.”
Just listen to this powerful activist speak out on the massacre of Iranian protesters:
My Interview with @FoxNews on the massacre of 1500 protesters by the regime:
When Charlie Hebdo was a victim of terrorism in France, leaders of the world showed solidarity.
But when 1500 protesters were terrorised during #IranProtests, there was no solidarity from the West" pic.twitter.com/N0KgNzxQMD
