Troubling reports of biological males being allowed to share restrooms, locker rooms, and other private areas with females have been making headlines for years.

Now that President Donald Trump is back in office, however, concerned parents seem to have a much better chance of reversing some of the left’s most controversial gender-related policies.

For a mother in Illinois who was outraged over actions taken by her daughter’s school, her response has included public statements and a civil rights complaint filed with the Department of Justice.

Nicole Georgas revealed the complaint during a Board of Education meeting for Deerfield Public Schools District 109 last week, claiming that the incident took place last month after her daughter refused to change into her uniform during physical education because a biological male student was present at the time.

“The girls want their locker rooms and bathrooms back. They want their privacy back. This is why I’m here tonight. My 13-year-old daughter’s well-being, mental health, and privacy are at stake,” Georgas said during her speech at the board meeting on Thursday.

According to Georgas, her daughter was “frightened” and “extremely upset” when on Feb. 5 she was using the girls bathroom and noticed that a transgender student was also using the facilities at the same time.

“She was told by the administration that a student can use the bathroom as well as a female locker room because they now identify as female,” Georgas said of the explanation administrators allegedly provided to her daughter.

Georgas then raised the issue to the school’s administration, noting to them that she believed it was a direct violation of President Donald Trump’s “Keeping Men out of Women’s Sports” executive order. She said in her speech that the administration informed her that, under the direction of their legal counsel, the student was free to use both the girls bathroom and the girls locker room.

Georgas clearly has a receptive audience in the White House,  as evidenced by various statements Trump has made on the issue:

The Illinois case is evidence that despite Trump’s influence at the federal level, school administrators at the local level still wield significant influence on such issues:

By bringing her complaints out into the open, however, Georgas is fueling the national debate and increasing calls for decisive action.

The Daily Wire provided additional details from Georgas’ speech:

Nicole Georgas told the story of what she said happened to her 13-year-old daughter and other girls at Shepard Middle School while speaking at a Deerfield School District 109 School Board meeting on Thursday, National Review reported. Deerfield is a suburb of Chicago. Georgas said her daughter came home upset on February 5, saying a boy was using the girl’s bathroom.

According to Georgas, the girl was then told by school administrators that the boy was allowed to use the girl’s locker room and bathroom because he identified as a girl, and the school’s “inclusive” bathroom policy allowed him to use whichever locker room he wanted. Georgas said she spoke to school administrators and told them they were violating President Donald Trump’s executive order that prohibited males from using female locker rooms and participating in girls’ sports. The school stood its ground, citing the district’s legal counsel.

After this exchange, Georgas said Thursday, “the situation went from bad to worse.”

“A few days later, the male student was present in the girl’s locker room. Feeling violated, the girls made the choice not to change into their PE clothes with the biological male student present,” Georgas said.
