Maajid Nawaz wrote about the arrest of ISIS mufti, Shifa al-Nima on Twitter. In his thread about the arrest, Nawaz shared shocking photos and explained how the ISIS mufti had to be taken away in the back of a pickup truck by police.

Nawaz added: It is good that Syrians, Iraqis &others witness the debasement of this scum. That he is this obese, this immobile & this humiliated is yet another blow to ISIS imbeciles who thought God was with them. Cue: Jabba the Hut jokes. It was a good day for the Force & a bad day for evil.

Nawaz mocks ISIS’s top religious cleric, calling him a “walrus.”

Do not underestimate the psychological blow the image of this obese monster being arrested is to ISIS. Gluttony is frowned upon by jihadists. But also, ISIS branded themselves as fighters possessing rare courage & discipline… meanwhile this walrus was their top religious cleric.

He also calls him a hippo in his next tweet:

And that he issued rulings to fighters to both kill & be killed en mass, while justifying every manner of atrocity in the name of Islam, this hippo quite obviously had little intention of exerting his body beyond bowel movements. The hypocrisy stinks (figuratively & literately)!

Nawaz warns not to criticize him for mocking his obesity, that he is the man who sanctioned enslavement, rape and murder, calling his condition, “Almost poetic.”

Activists, use my above point not to mock obesity, but to mock the hypocrisy & debasement of a man who sanctioned enslavement, rape & murder. If ISIS were uniquely animalistic, then it’s befitting they were presided over by a uniquely beastial figure such as this. Almost poetic
