Now that he’s firmly ensconced within the national political spotlight, socialist U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed is taking aim at the highest-profile Republicans, as well as those within his own party who aren’t comfortable with his far-left agenda.
One recent example came when he targeted Vice President J.D. Vance based on the unsubstantiated claim that he is Palantir founder Peter Thiel’s “boy.”
Vance took the opportunity to respond, calling attention to El-Sayed’s own record, as The Hill reported:
“He’s just kind of an odd guy, but I think that it’s telling that instead of talking about what he wants to do to make the lives of Michiganders better, he takes personal insults at me. I’m the vice president, it comes with the territory,” Vance said, responding to El-Sayed in an interview that aired Saturday on Fox News’s “Saturday in America.”
“I think the guy’s crazy and would be a terrible senator for the people of Michigan. We’re going to make that case, and obviously the people in Michigan are going to make their vote,” he added.

The New York Post provided these details:
“I think that it’s telling that instead of talking about what he wants to do to make the lives of Michiganders better, he takes personal insults at me. I’m the vice president. It comes with the territory,” he said.
Vice President JD Vance called Michigan Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed “crazy” after the public health expert mocked his “Ohio charisma.”
Vance, 42, was asked about El-Sayed’s comments to MS NOW, where he railed on Vance.
“Is that Peter Thiel’s boy with that Ohio charisma he’s got?” El-Sayed sneered. “That guy. I think we’ve had enough of him. The last thing that he said that made any sense was ‘Hillbilly Elegy’, after he said that Donald Trump had no business being president of anything. That was the last time he made sense, and then he decided to suck up to power.”
The dig was a reference to Vance’s longtime association with the Silicon Valley billionaire, who backed his early investment career and Senate runs, and Vance’s breakthrough autobiography – as well as Vance’s earlier attacks on Trump before Trump tapped him as his running mate in 2024.
