In 2022, now-26-year-old Dimone Fleming stabbed her two young boys to death in a bathtub.

On Monday, a Bronx judge found her not guilty.

The reason?

Postpartum psychosis.

Before carrying out the horrific double murder, Fleming had been diagnosed with mental illness and treated at a hospital for a couple of months.

She was prescribed psychotropics, but refused to take her medication.

Instead, she smoked weed every day, which made her psychotic symptoms worse — until she allegedly began hallucinating and believed she had to “cleanse” her kids.

Two little boys stabbed to death in a bathtub.

Their mother walks.

Dimone Fleming killed her 3-year-old and her 11-month-old. A Bronx judge just said she’s not responsible. Psychosis. Stopped her meds. Smoked weed every day. Then she “cleansed” her own children.

The prosecutor says charging her with murder “doesn’t prevent these crimes.” The baby’s father called her “a good person.”

This is suicidal empathy. Feel so much for the killer that two dead kids become a footnote.

Mental illness is real. Murder is still murder.

Despite gruesomely murdering her little boys, Fleming will not serve any jail time.

Instead, she will likely be sent to a mental hospital, where she could be kept for months or years.

Her next court date is September 18th, after she is re-evaluated by psychiatrists.

In court, prosecutors argued that sending this woman to jail would not serve justice.

The New York Post reported further:

On the night of the gruesome killings, Fleming was “grossly psychotic and out of touch with reality,” according to psychiatrist Dr. Eric Goldsmith.

Similarly, “Ms. Fleming believed her actions were necessary to protect or ‘cleanse’ her children,” according to a forensic psychiatrist report written by doctors hired by the defense.

Before the killings, Fleming had been treated at a Queens hospital for two months, where she was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and prescribed psychotropic medication, the Times reported, citing court records.

But the mother of two did not take her medication as prescribed and instead used marijuana daily — which reportedly exacerbated her mental health symptoms.

Mental examinations ordered by both the prosecution and defense determined Fleming was in a state of psychosis at the time of the bloody killings.

On the night of Nov. 26, 2022, a shelter employee called 911 on reports of water and smoke coming from Fleming’s apartment.

Police found Fleming “acting irrationally” and she was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Cops didn’t initially notice the slain boys buried under a pile of clothes in the bathtub when they took her away, as a neighbor told police the young children were with their father.

Shortly after, Fleming’s then-boyfriend and father of 11-month-old Octavius, Columbus Canada, found the two young boys unresponsive in the apartment and called police.

Police sources told The Post at the time that Fleming allegedly confessed to killing her two young sons and made statements about the “devil” to detectives.

The then-22-year-old mother was charged with first-degree murder.

In court this week, prosecutors said that trying Fleming for double murder would not serve justice.

“Prosecuting mothers does not and cannot prevent these crimes from happening, but public discourse might,” Bronx assistant district attorney Tiffany Wichman told the publication.

“People talking about it is important, and I hope people continue talking about it,” the prosecutor said.

What kind of nonsense logic is that?

Because locking up a child murderer won’t prevent other murders, she shouldn’t be prosecuted?

This abomination of justice comes as jurors in Massachusetts are currently deliberating the Lindsay Clancy case, which bears a striking resemblance to Fleming’s case.

The New York Times noted:

The resolution, reached quietly in Bronx Criminal Court, came as national attention has been focused on the trial of Lindsay Clancy, a Massachusetts woman charged with murdering her three young children in 2023.

Her case, unlike Ms. Fleming’s, has drawn local and international coverage with Court TV constantly streaming testimony, and has revived discussion on how mentally ill mothers who kill their children should be treated and prosecuted. Ms. Clancy has admitted to strangling her children, but has said she was experiencing postpartum psychosis, a condition that can cause hallucinations and delusions. In contrast with Ms. Fleming’s case, Massachusetts prosecutors have rejected Ms. Clancy’s defense and have argued that she “coldly and calculatingly executed” her children.

Today’s ruling was absolutely insane. We live in dark, scary times.

Hopefully, we will see a very different verdict reached in the Lindsay Clancy case.

But, this case sets a dangerous, horrifying precedent.
