This afternoon, a fire broke out in the U.S. Capitol underground trolley system, which is used by members of Congress, aids, and guests to travel between buildings.

Specifically, there was a fire in the tunnel connecting the Capitol buildings with the Rayburn House Office Building.

Due to the smoke, people were evacuated, and at least two police officers were sent to the hospital.

Luckily, it doesn’t seem like there were any serious injuries.

Florida Congressman Jimmy Patronis shared:

We don’t know the exact cause of the fire, but authorities say it was electrical.

Fox News has more details:

The D.C. Fire and EMS Department confirmed crews responded to a small electrical fire atop the underground trolley, which was later extinguished.

Fire officials confirmed two U.S. Capitol Police officers were taken to the hospital for evaluation.

None of the passengers on the trolley were injured, officials said.
