Yesterday, President Trump tweeted about the border security deal that was being negotiated by the “hard-working” Senator Richard Shelby.
Was just presented the concept and parameters of the Border Security Deal by hard working Senator Richard Shelby. Looking over all aspects knowing that this will be hooked up with lots of money from other sources….
He then revealed the deal would inclued $23 billion for border security.
….Will be getting almost $23 BILLION for Border Security. Regardless of Wall money, it is being built as we speak!
The Daily Caller reports- Alabama Republican Sen. Richard Shelby announced Monday night that congressional negotiators reached an agreement to fund the border wall, thereby avoiding another government shutdown on Friday, but House Republican leadership had not seen details of the agreement when Shelby made his pronouncement.
Georgia Republican Rep. Tom Graves, a member of the bipartisan Conference Committee who has been negotiating the deal since the government re-opened nearly three weeks ago, tweeted Tuesday morning, “I haven’t signed off on the reported ‘deal,’ nor have I seen it. Based on the reports, I have concerns. Lots of questions, too.”
When The Daily Caller asked House Minority Whip Steve Scalise about Graves comment he replied, “He hasn’t he hasn’t seen the details I haven’t seen the details. I don’t think Leader McCarthy has seen the details.”
The agreement described by Shelby Monday night includes $1.375 billion for a border barrier is well below the $5.7 billion President Trump originally wanted for a border wall. Additionally, Democrats indicated the number of beds in the border detention centers would be brought down to 40,520 by the end of the year.
Late last night, President Trump tweeted his appreciation for Republican lawmakers and their efforts to help secure our borders:
I want to thank all Republicans for the work you have done in dealing with the Radical Left on Border Security. Not an easy task, but the Wall is being built and will be a great achievement and contributor toward life and safety within our Country!
Today, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders spoke with Fox and Friends to discuss whether or not President Trump will sign Congress’ new budget deal which reportedly includes only $1.7 billion for the border wall. Sanders told the Fox and Friends hosts that President Trump has alternative options and he will review those before he signs anything. “Rest assured,” Sanders told the hosts, “The President said he was gonna build the wall and he’s gonna do that.” “He’s gonna get the job done, no matter what,” Sanders told them.
Sanders reminded them that Pelosi told everyone she wouldn’t give a dollar to the wall and the House bill says it will give him 1.74 billion that will go toward the wall. She continued, “In total, it gives about $23 billion in border security, which is desperately needed,” Sander continued, “It expands I.C.E., verses abolishes I.C.E., like we’ve heard some Democrats talk about in the past.”
