As the backlash against Target Corporation grows over its Pride Month collection, it has come to light that the retailer has been making large donations to an LGBTQ group that focuses on convincing K-12 school districts to help children change their gender without parental knowledge or consent.
Target is now doubling down on its support for the transgender community, specifically the children in this community, through maintaining its long-time partnership with the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN).
GLSEN is a national organization that works to promote an inclusive environment in k-12 schools for LGBTQ+ youth. One of their main focuses is to get school districts to adopt policies that would help children secretly transition without telling their parents.
The group encourages schools to keep “personally identifiable and medical information relating to transgender and nonbinary students confidential.”
“Staff or educators shall not disclose any information that may reveal a student’s gender identity to others, including parents or guardian,” reads the group’s policy.
The organization pushes for sexually explicit books to be available in classrooms, providing sexually explicit books to educators for free from their “Rainbow Library.”
The titles included in the Rainbow Library program include highly inappropriate and sexually explicit books such as “Gender Queer” by Maia Kabobe, which contains imagery of sexual activities and explicit descriptions.
Another book that is promoted by GLSEN is “Sex is a Funny Word.” It is by Corey Silverberg, who is the co-founder of a “beginner’s sex shop” which sells his “children’s book.”
GLSEN also advises teachers on how to be “more inclusive of trans and non-binary identities” during class and lobbies school districts to allow biological men to compete in women’s sports.
In a statement, Target praised the company and its initiatives saying, “GLSEN leads the movement in creating affirming… and anti-racist spaces for LGBTQIA+ students. We are proud of 10+ years of collaboration with GLSEN and continue to support their mission.”
Target has reportedly donated at least $2.1 million to the organization since they began the partnership and are continuing this partnership despite having lost about $9 billion in market value after releasing its annual Pride Month collection which was designed by a Satanist.
