President Trump has a new nickname for Senator Ted Cruz that’ll bring a smile to your face. As only Trump can do, he made light of the ‘Lyin Ted’ nickname he gave Cruz during the 2016 campaign. He defused any chance reporters had to make an issue of the president calling Senator Ted Cruz such a negative name in the past by responding with a tongue-in-cheek answer. He told reporters that he and Cruz get along saying Senator Cruz is now “Beautiful Ted” as opposed to his 2016 campaign nickname of “Lyin’ Ted.”

“He’s not ‘Lyin’ Ted’ anymore. He’s ‘Beautiful Ted.’ I call him ‘Texas Ted’. I like him a lot. I actually like him a lot, and he’s a very smart guy. He loves the people of Texas, which I do.”

When asked about Cruz’ opponent, President Trump was spot on with his assesment:

“I think Beto O’Rourke is highly overrated. When I heard about him, I figured he must be something a little special. He’s not. I thought he got beat badly in the debates. I think he’s a highly overrated guy.”
