Kamala Harris said Thursday “I’m ready to debate Donald Trump.”

“I have agreed to the previously agreed upon September 10th debate,” she commented.

“He agreed to that previously. Now it appears he’s backpedaling,” she added.

“Trump agreed on a September 10th debate. It now appears he’s backpedaling. Voters deserve to see the split screen that exists on a debate stage. I’m ready. So let’s go,” Harris wrote.

Per CBS News:

Trump and President Biden, when he was still in the race for the White House, agreed back in May to participate in two presidential debates, the first on June 27 and hosted by CNN, and the second on Sept. 10 that would be hosted by ABC News.

But Mr. Biden’s poor performance during the first debate last month sparked calls for him to end his reelection bid, and he announced Sunday he would be forgoing his campaign for a second term. Following his exit from the race, Harris announced her candidacy and has since received the backing of a majority of delegates needed to secure the Democratic nomination.

Trump has said he would debate Harris, and face off against her “more than once.” But he said on his social media platform that he believes it should be hosted by Fox News, instead of ABC News. The former president called ABC “fake news” and a “joke.”

Fox News invited Trump and Harris to participate in a debate on September 17th.

Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier were recommended to moderate the debate.

Jason Miller, a Trump campaign senior adviser, confidently said a debate between Trump-Harris will happen.

Axios reports:

Miller said the Trump campaign is “non-committal” to the Sept. 10 debate hosted by ABC News, but that there will be another debate —and “should be multiple debates.”

Trump in recent days has said he would debate Harris but pushed back on the ABC debate, calling on a more conservative media outlet like Fox News to host.

President Biden ending his bid for president and Harris quickly locking in enough Democratic delegates to become the party’s presumed nominee has thrown future debate scheduling into question.

“A debate will happen. I’m not sure it will be ABC,” Miller told Axios.

“Not only will there be another debate, but there should be multiple debates,” Miller said. “We do think there should be some diversification in the outlets for who hosts a debate, but I think the public would be sold short if we only did one debate against Kamala Harris in the general election.”

He also suggested that a Spanish-American outlet should be involved in one of the debates.
