CatholicVote, a Catholic advocacy organization, recently began a campaign to contact the Los Angeles Dodgers and demand that they cancel their plans to give an anti-Catholic hate group, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (SPI), a “Community Hero Award.”

In a recent press release, the Dodgers announced their plans to honor SPI during their “LGBTQ+ Pride Night” on June 16 by presenting the group, whose motto is “Go forth and sin some more,” with an award.

SPI’s website described the organization as a “leading-edge order of queer and trans nuns,” but, of course, these are not real nuns but rather a group of drag queens masquerading as offensive caricatures of nuns.

Brain Burch, the president of CatholicVote, condemned the decision of the LA Dodgers to honor this group with an award.

“The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are an anti-Catholic hate group which exists to desecrate and degrade the Catholic faith,” wrote Burch. “Their sole mission is to disgust Christians with the most grotesque acts they can imagine.”

“It’s bad enough to drag down baseball – which ought to be synonymous with the best of America,” said CatholicVote Vice President Joshua Mercer. “But the LA Dodgers – with the blessing of Major League Baseball – are doing more than pollute our national pastime with woke intolerance and far-Left propaganda: They’re directly attacking religious Americans.”

Burch encouraged “every baseball fan in America” to contact the Dodgers’ administration to demand they remove SPI from their list of honorees.

In a letter to MLB Commissioner Robert Manfred, Burch detailed instances in which SPI directly disrespected the Catholic faith.

“The SPI mock Catholics by taking on vulgar names such as ‘Sister GladAss of the Joyous Reserectum.’ They dress in sexualized perversions of religious garb, taunting the women religious who serve the poor in Southern California and around the world,” Burch wrote.

Sharing shocking details of anti-Catholic acts, Burch said:

“In one infamous stunt, they tricked an archbishop into giving them the Eucharist – the most important sacrament of the Catholic faith – so they could defile it.

This past Easter Sunday, the SPI put on an exhibition in San Francisco in which a performer dressed as Jesus carried a cross up a hill and then performed a pole dance on it.”

“We sincerely doubt that the Dodgers would give such an award o a group which made a similar travesty of the Jewish faith or Muslim faith,” Burch challenged.

Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fl.) also sent a letter to Manfred demanding an answer to why the MLB would honor a “group that mocks Christians through diabolical parodies of our faith.”

After receiving major backlash for their decision, the LA Dodgers announced on Wednesday that they will no longer be honoring SPI with an award.

The statement released by the team said,

“This year, as part of a full night of programming, we invited a number of groups to join us. We are now aware that our inclusion of one group in particular – The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence – in this year’s Pride Night has been the source of some controversy.

Given the strong feelings of people who have been offended by the sisters’ inclusion in our evening, and in an effort not to distract from the great benefits that we have seen over the years of Pride Night, we are deciding to remove them from this year’s group of honorees.”

CatholicVote responded to this decision on Twitter, saying, “We are pleased that the Dodgers reconsidered their decision to honor an anti-Catholic hate group known for their gross mockery of Catholic nuns.”

“While we continue to wonder how such a group was selected in the first place, this incident should serve as a wake-up call for all religious believers: unchecked woke corporations have no qualms about exploiting people of faith.”

Of course, SPI members expressed their shock at the removal from the list of honorees and criticized the Dodgers for giving in to “conservative pseudo-Christian homophobes,” as put by “Sister Roma”, a prominent member of SPI.

“This weaponizing of religion is exactly what the (Sisters) have been protesting for decades,” added Sister Roma, seeming to forget that their group intentionally mocks and degrades Catholics and the Catholic religion.

In typical fashion, the woke, radical Leftists have no concept of how they could possibly offend someone, but are constantly complaining of being offended and victimized by others.
