Photos on social media of crowds at the Brentwood Farmers Market made the rounds a few days ago after actress Katherine Schwarzenegger tagged the Los Angeles Mayor asking him to close the crowded market because of the coronavirus crisis.

LA Mayor Garcetti got the message and has temporarily closed the Hollywood and Brentwood markets, but surrounding towns have vowed to stay open. According to the LA Times, farmers markets in Santa Monica, Pasadena, Culver City and Torrance will remain open.

Do the people who want the markets to remain open understand how contagious coronavirus is and the risk of depending on people to be personally responsible for social distancing?

The plan according to Jaclyn Rivera-Krouse is to have a “one entrance and one exit approach” at the Santa Monica market. There will be announcements to observe social distancing.

THE PREVIOUS REPORT OF PHOTOS OF THE CROWDS AT THE BRENTWOOD FARMERS MARKET:

It’s hard to believe that the people in Brentwood, California, would crowd into a farmers market to risk everything for things like organic nut butter…but they did.  It’s interesting that another viral story of the same type of thing happened in Queens, NY, on Friday (see below). Is this the thinking from those on the left that the rules only apply to other people?

A photo on social media is going everywhere because actress Katherine Schwarzenegger tweeted out a message to the Mayor of Los Angeles to shut down the market pictured below:

The farmers markets in Brentwood still being open seems like a huge issue when it comes to social gatherings

One shocked person posted another photo on Twitter:

Here’s the park in Queens, NY:

Christopher Keelty took a video yesterday of a park in Astoria, Queens, NY where people were everywhere like it was a normal day.

Keelty wrote:

“So NYC is the epicenter of #COVID19 in the US, with hospitals on the verge of collapse and morgues overflowing. Queens is the hardest-hit borough. Here’s the teach at Astoria Park, in Queens, right now.”

Is it any wonder that Queens, NY is one of the hardest-hit places?

The selfishness of people is really unbelievable. Is it any wonder that New York is a hot spot for coronavirus?

What do you think Brentwood should do about the farmers market? We’d like to know. What has your local farmers market done during the coronavirus crisis?
