The unveiling of a new Florida license plate by Governor DeSantis has liberal institutions up in arms over nothing
Liberals are constantly willfully misinterpreting flags and symbols to try to associate them with “right wing extremism.” One such victim of this misinterpretation is the iconic Gadsden Flag.
This iconic flag dates back to the time of the revolution and has been seen as a symbol of freedom, defiance in the face of oppression, and American patriotism ever since.
Now, Governor Ron DeSantis has released a new Florida license plate which prominently features the Gadsden flag design.

First teased at the end of July, the plate design has acquired considerable flak from liberal outlets and institutions such as NPR and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
The flag was first designed for the US Navy in 1775 by Colonel Christopher Gadsden.
From the Gateway Pundit:
Gadsden took inspiration from pro-American imagery created by Benjamin Franklin, who was the first to use a rattlesnake to symbolize the 13 colonies.
The flag was intended to symbolize defiance of the British crown’s tyranny, and features a rattlesnake rising against a metaphorical treading boot.
NPR, however, willfully ignores that.
Gov. Ron DeSantis said a new Florida license plate featuring the Revolutionary War-era Gadsden flag sends a "clear message to out-of-state cars." Critics say it symbolizes a dangerous far-right extremist ideology.https://t.co/7rU6zTwj9p

Claiming that the flag symbolizes “far-right extremist ideology,” NPR wrote an entire hit piece dedicated to slamming the Florida plate and by extension Governor DeSantis.
The Southern Poverty Law Center also chimed in, claiming similarly, that the flag is a ‘dangerous far-right’ image.
“The state can’t claim a lack of knowledge about what this image represents to most of the public,” said a representative of the Southern Poverty Law Center quoted by NPR.
The SPLC representative linked the flag to the Jan. 6, 2021, disturbance at the U.S. Capitol. The flag has been used for decades by libertarians and other critics of government overreach — far before the Capitol incursion.
The flag is generally flown by critics of authoritarian government and federal overreach, not ‘radical extremists and insurrectionists.’
These overtly liberal institutions are grasping at straws to try and discredit Florida’s governor, however they are not alone.
The FBI also listed the Gadsden flag as a symbol of “far-right extremism” in their most currently list of “insurrectionist” symbology.
The year is 2022, not 1984. For the government to decide arbitrarily what they view as threatening and try to lump together patriots as if they are terrorists is absolutely un-American.
