In what reads like something from a parody account, the Los Angeles Police Department posted Thursday night that it’s “aware of possible first amendment activity.”
It’s unclear what “possible first amendment activity” LAPD references, but it should concern anyone who cares about their inalienable right to free speech, religion, press, peaceful assemble, and petition the government.
“The LAPD is aware of possible first amendment activity in the Los Angeles area over the next few days. In coordination with the US Secret Service, additional uniformed personnel and other resources will be deployed to ensure the highest level of public safety,” LAPD HQ posted.

“The Department will continue to work with any protest organizers to facilitate lawful demonstrations while protecting the safety of all involved including surrounding communities. Violence of any kind will not be tolerated,” LAPD HQ added.
“The Los Angeles Police Department is asking that all individuals and groups involved in protest or counter-protest activities not allow individuals who express the intent to commit violence or property to compromise the otherwise lawful demonstration,” the department continued.

X users commented on LAPD’s bizarre statement about “possible first amendment activity”:
"Possible First Amendment activity?
You fucking serious?
This is where we're heading, guys.
If you haven't started planning for the future yet, you have a lot of ground to make up but it's not too late. https://t.co/CDl3BYIgV5

Not sure it gets more dystopian than a law enforcement agency warning of 'possible First Amendment activity' https://t.co/T5rDfUx1F8

Could be anything really. People standing on their lawns reading from their pocket constitutions maybe? https://t.co/IJVZlpxbrg

Government is warning people of “first amendment activity”.
If this isn’t an indication that we live in a police state, I don’t know what is. https://t.co/JG47Ixpd9t— Mr T 2 (@GovtsTheProblem) December 8, 2023

What fresh Orwellian hell is this? https://t.co/bM2xfN11gG

Do these people realize how Orwellian they sound when they use the ridiculous "first amendment activity" term?
Protests. Say "protests."
And when (not if) those protests turn violent, call them "riots." Because they're riots.
Good Lord. https://t.co/qQjGfQra2C

"First amendment activity" — are people breaking out into spontaneous readings of the Constitution? https://t.co/QjOWJdyhai

This either means that people are about to peacefully rally, and the police are planning with feds to crack some heads,
Or
That fed-implanted "mostly peaceful protestors" are about to wreak havoc, and the police are working with the feds to make sure it goes without a hitch. https://t.co/ZWpBiP7gcT

The Los Angeles Police Department issued the warning of “possible first amendment activity” ahead of a scheduled visit from Joe Biden this weekend.
ABC 7 Los Angeles reports:
Biden and first lady Jill Biden will make a fundraising swing through Southern California starting Friday, rubbing elbows with Hollywood’s elite to benefit his reelection bid. The White House said the president will be in Los Angeles until Sunday.
As with any presidential visit, motorists can anticipate sporadic traffic headaches as Biden moves around town, prompting temporary rolling street or freeway closures. The president will fly into Los Angeles International Airport on Friday afternoon, and is typically then taken by helicopter to Santa Monica before traveling by motorcade.
Jill Biden, meanwhile, is scheduled to visit Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Friday to tour research laboratories as part of the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research. She plans to tour the Barbra Streisand Women’s Heart Center and Smidt Heart Institute, according to the White House.
“Every woman I know has a story about leaving her doctor’s office with more questions than answers,” the first lady said when the initiative was announced. “Not because our doctors are withholding information, but because there’s just not enough research yet on how to best manage and treat even common women’s health conditions. In 2023, that is unacceptable.”
Jill Biden is also expected to appear at fundraisers for her husband on Friday and Saturday.
