The irony in the video below isn’t lost on us. Maxine Waters is partially responsible for the crash of the housing market. There are several examples on video of Waters claiming there was no housing bubble and pressuring the continued growth of that bubble. She is also on video making a claim about socialism. She expects American taxpayers to pay for free housing for everyone. She’s a true socialist who lives in a mansion but expects hard-working Americans to foot the bill.

The last time Democrats had firm control of the federal government, we heard a lot about how medical care is a human right. They followed up the rhetoric with the disastrous ObamaCare power grab. What’s next? Maxine Waters offers a clue by proclaiming that housing is “a necessary human right”:

If housing is “a necessary human right,” that means that you have a right to force other people to provide you with housing, if necessary on a slave basis. That’s what Big Government under the control of socialists like Maxine Waters is for.

Conflating rights with needs is an attack on the very essence of rights. You have a right to your own property, which includes your own labor. In a free society, that allows you to meet your needs by trading for healthcare services, housing, et cetera.

In a society that regards housing as a right, you have no property; you are property — the government’s.

Also alarming is her statement that “Housing is the foundation on which our entire society is built.” Sonja Bochow begs to differ:

The FAMILY is the foundation on which our entire society is built, not housing. As the family unit goes, so goes the nation. If it’s healthy, our nation is healthy. If it isn’t, we are in trouble. And if Waters wants to truly help those who need it, she can start promoting marriage instead of irresponsible sex leading to far too many out of wedlock births to single parents, and she can start promoting intact families instead of crazy broken up homes with kids having no dad.

That would entail serious welfare reform. I doubt Mad Maxine is on board.

Waters might be right about housing being the foundation of society, if society were a housing project. Transforming America into a giant housing project appears to be Democrats’ ambition.
